Abstract: The invention describes a process for making compound (2), comprising the step of cyclising diene (3). Compound (2) may be aigialomycin D or a derivative thereof or may be elaborated to make aigialomycin D or derivative thereof. Furthermore compound (2) or derivative thereof can be used in treating cancer or malaria or a microbial infection.
