The linear positioning device comprises a movable part and a stationary part. The movable part is connected to a nut which screwingly engages with a drive screw mounted on the stationary part. The drive screw is rigidly connected to the axle of the wheel of a worm reduction gear. The screwing engagement of the nut and the drive screw is non-locking. A constant force is applied to the movable part of the device and acts on the nut in a direction along the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft. The result is an increase in the accuracy of movement of the movable part as a result of the selection of the play between the drive screw and the nut and also in the worm reduction gear.

A device for positioning an instrument relative to an object comprises an element which is mounted on a pneumatic support and is connected to the instrument, and an element which is mounted on the pneumatic support and is connected to the object.
