A system for checking the axial position of a bearing (30) inside an hole (31) of an E-block (29), preferably during the assembly of an HSA, comprises a reference system (3) that locates the E-block, a coupling element (17) that comes into contact with the bearing, a floating element (8) that, being connected to the coupling element, assumes the attitude of the bearing, two or more detection devices, for example optoelectronic, that cooperate with the floating element and detect at the same time, at checking areas spaced apart from each other, quantities indicative of the position and, in case, of the attitude of the bearing with respect to the E-block, and a processing unit (50) for receiving and processing the detected quantities. A corresponding method for checking comprises the steps of locating E-block and bearing to mutually movable parts of the reference system, detecting at the same time, at least at two checking areas spaced apart from each other, quantities indicative of the position and, in case, of the attitude of the bearing with respect to the E-block, and processing the detected quantities. The invention relates also to an equipment and a method for assembling HSAs, that respectively employ the above-mentioned system and method for checking the mutual position and, in case, the attitude of the bearing with respect to the E-block.

The linear positioning device comprises a movable part and a stationary part. The movable part is connected to a nut which screwingly engages with a drive screw mounted on the stationary part. The drive screw is rigidly connected to the axle of the wheel of a worm reduction gear. The screwing engagement of the nut and the drive screw is non-locking. A constant force is applied to the movable part of the device and acts on the nut in a direction along the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft. The result is an increase in the accuracy of movement of the movable part as a result of the selection of the play between the drive screw and the nut and also in the worm reduction gear.

The reference and locking system can be part of an optoelectronic checking apparatus and can be used in a method for checking the mechanical piece, as far as dimensions and/or form deviation are concerned.

The electromagnet comprises a core (18), having three limbs 20.1, 20.2 and 20.3, each terminating in a pole face 22.1, 22.2 and 22.3, being formed by a plurality of ferromagnetic transformer laminations (26), stacked together and slideable with respect to each other in a direction to and from the pole faces. Lamination bias means (36), in the form of masses 38, 40.1 and 40.2 of resilient compressible material, defined quiescent pole faces from which individual laminations may depart by sliding when forced against a surface having ridges and/or grooves extending in the lamination planes, but exerts a restoring force on such laminations so displaced. The pole faces are thus able to conform to such an uneven surface before the electromagnet is energised and attach with improved flux coupling thereafter. The housing means is mounted on the body by way of attachment means (44) which biases the core to a position recessed with respect to the datum face. Bias override, provided by handle (50), permits the quiescent core pole pieces to be exposed for forcing into conformity with the ferromagnetic surface and when flux coupling is established the attachment bias urges the body (5) against the surface.

The invention relates to a device for measuring across several axes of an object, whereby the object to be measured can be fixed to a measuring table. According to the invention, base strips, which from a lateral view are configured as half a swallow-tail and can be fixed on the measuring plane, are provided. The device also comprises attachment strips that are adapted to said base strips, having a toothed profile on one side and being furnished with a groove, to which retaining screws are allocated. The base strips and attachment strips are arranged in relation to the measuring table and are proportioned in such a way, that the plane of the measuring table acts as a reference plane for the underside of the attachment strips. A clamping piece, which fixes the object, is also provided. The invention is suitable for both contactless optical measuring and tactile measuring. One of the advantages of the invention is that objects to be measured can be securely and rapidly fixed to the measuring table, even if the latter is mobile.

An optoelectronic apparatus for the dimension and/or shape checking of pieces, more specifically pieces with complex tridimensional shape, as the supports for magnetic read/write heads (33, 47, 63) for hard disk storage units, comprises a base (1) with two guide elements (7, 9) to which there is coupled a slide (11), movable in a longitudinal direction along the guide elements (7, 9), and a system (31) for locking and referring the piece (33, 47, 63) to be checked. The slide (11) supports a rotary table (13), to which there is fixed a support (15) for an optoelectronic measuring system. Rotational displacements of the rotary table (13) about an axis parallel to the guide elements (7, 9) make the optoelectronic measuring system oscillate substantially in a plane perpendicular to said axis for optimizing the reciprocal arrangement between the components (75, 77) of the optoelectronic measuring system and the piece (33, 47, 63) in the course of the checking. It is possible to check pieces (33, 47, 63) with different shape and nominal dimensions by replacing just some elements of the apparatus.

Disclosed is a device for inspecting thermoplastic blanks. The blanks are transported along a conveying element with a view to being blown to containers in a blowing rail area. They resemble tubes with a closed bottom and a mouth portion. The mouth section delimits the mouth opening of the blank. An axis of rotation for a detector wheel is mounted crosswise to the blank conveying system. The detector wheel bears detector heads with rounded contours, which are distributed star-like on lugs radially oriented outwards. The detector heads have dimensions which are adapted to the mouth diameter of the blanks. At least one segment of the conveying element is mounted with a varying position in the vicinity of the detector wheel. When positioned for inspection, the axis of rotation of the detector wheel is at such a distance to the conveying element that, when the detector wheel rotates, the detector heads can be introduced, at least partly, into the mouth section. Said segment of the conveying element is connected to a control element which, upon detection of the detector head being wrongly introduced into the mouth section of the blank, causes the segment position to vary, the blank being taken away from the area of the conveying element.
