Abstract:
This invention relates to a slam latch, and to methods of operating a gate/panel using the slam latch. The slam latch comprises (i) a mounting body; (ii) a latch bolt having a longitudinal axis and being mounted relative to the mounting body for axial movement relative to the mounting body between a locking position and an unlocking position, said latch bolt having a keeper-engaging end extending from the mounting body; and (iii) a keeper adapted to receive the keeper-engaging end of the latch bolt when the latch bolt is in the locking position.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a furcated composite post (1) comprising at least two strips (7, 8) that are joined together along their length in a furcated manner. The method comprises the steps of feeding one or more of the strips (7, 8) at a set rate to working rolls of a roll mill for profile rolling to a desired cross section/profile, feeding the strips (7, 8) at the same set rate to positioning rolls for holding the strips (7, 8) in a correct orientation for joining, and joining the strips together, preferably by welding the strips (7, 8) along their length.
Abstract:
A hybrid fence post (1) comprising a galvanised steel Y-profile fence post picket (3) having three radially extending arms (5a, 5b, 5c) and a ground-anchoring base (4). The fence post (1) also comprises an elongate holder for fencing members having a plastic strip body (6) riveted to an arm (5a) of the picket (3). The strip body (6) serves as an electrical insulator and has a plurality of openings (7) (i.e. keepers) through which electrified fencing wires (2) may be extended.
Abstract:
A convertible item of furniture comprising: a front end and a rear end; a plurality of shelf units, wherein each said shelf unit comprises a substantially horizontally extending leave and at least one leave support for supporting the leave; a drive system operably connected to each said leave support such that the leaves remain substantially horizontal when the shelf units are moved between (1) a substantially vertical shelf configuration and (2) a substantially horizontal configuration; and, an anti-tip leg system. The anti-tip leg system comprises: a front leg assembly comprising at least an upwardly extending pair of front legs spaced apart from one another, each said front leg comprising a front leg upper region operably connected directly or indirectly to a shelf unit or a part of the drive system and a front leg lower region supporting at least one wheel; a rear leg assembly comprising at least an upwardly extending pair of rear legs spaced apart from one another, each said rear leg comprising a rear leg upper region operably connected directly or indirectly to a said shelf unit or a part of the drive system, and a rear leg lower region supporting at least one wheel; and, a linkage assembly interconnecting the front and rear leg assemblies. A spacing between the front and rear leg lower regions increases as the shelf units move towards the substantially horizontal configuration; the spacing between the front and rear leg lower regions decreases as the shelf units move towards the substantially vertical shelf configuration; said front and rear leg lower regions remain in contact with a ground surface at all times; and, said linkage assembly determines a maximum spacing allowable between the front and rear legs.
Abstract:
This invention relates to locking assemblies for doors/gates. In one form, the locking assembly includes: a pivot arm, with a cam roller and a means for engaging the door/gate; and a cam plate having a track with two paths configured to receive the cam roller of the pivot arm, a cam plate including a cam, whereby movement of the pivot arm causes the cam roller to move within the track, the cam roller within the track being restricted by a force applied to the cam. In another form the invention relates to a door assembly and locking assembly including first and second handles, a shaft mountable to the frame and a pivot assembly connecting the shaft to the door, whereby rotation of the second handle will turn the shaft and the shaft will in turn move the pivot assembly to achieve a locked or unlocked position and move the door to opened and closed positions.
Abstract:
This invention relates, inter alia, to methods of manufacturing a chemically treated structure, and to chemically treated structures including those manufactured by the method. In one embodiment, the chemically treated structure comprises: at least one structural member comprising a connectable region; and at least one connector comprising a body, at least one drainage hole for draining fluid from within the body, and at least one connecting region for connecting to the connectable region of the structural member. In one embodiment, the method comprises the steps of: connecting the connectable region of the at least one structural member to the connecting region of the at least one connector so as to construct a structure but not so as to substantially seal the at least one drainage hole; and subjecting the structure to at least one chemical fluid treatment so as to produce a chemically-treated structure, whereby chemical fluid of the treatment drains from within the body via the at least one drainage hole.
Abstract:
One aspect of the invention concerns a metallic bar or post (15) comprising a longitudinal axis; a spine (16) extending along the longitudinal axis; and at least three interconnected arms (17-19), each of which extends along the spine (16) and generally radially from the spine (16), with a free end (20-22) of each said arm (17-19) being tapered in the direction of the free end (20-22) to the spine (16). Other aspects of the invention concern a roll stand and rolling mill for forming the bar or post (15).
Abstract:
A convertible item of furniture (100) comprising: a plurality of shelf units (1), wherein each said shelf unit (1) comprises a substantially horizontally extending leave (10) and a leave support (11) for supporting the leave (10); a linkage system (2) comprising linkage members (21, 22) pivotally connected to each said leave support (11) such that the linkage members (21, 22) are able to pivot in unison and parallel with each other between (i) a shelf configuration whereby the linkage members (21, 22) extend substantially vertically and said leaves (10) extend in spaced substantially horizontal parallel planes above one another, and (ii) a substantially flat surface configuration whereby the linkage members (21, 22) extend substantially horizontally and said leaves (10) are positioned next to one another to form a substantially flat surface having a front end and a rear end; and, at least one surface support (3) for supporting the substantially flat surface.
