The present invention relates to an electrical connector (1) for a plug-in connection (2), comprising a connector housing (7) having a mating part (8) defining a receiving section adapted for receiving a mating section (38) of a counter-connector (3), at least two contact elements (13) that are placed in the receiving section, and a ground contact assembly (67) comprising a ground contact (33) having a contacting portion (36) adapted for being electrically connected with a grounding element of a retainer (5). For providing an electrical connector (1), which can be coupled with standard counter-connectors (3), the ground contact assembly (67) of the electrical connector (1) according to the present invention is arranged outside the receiving section with the contacting portion (36) extending at least section-wise into the receiving section.

A first plug (100), and a flexible short-circuit arm (120) having a resting position wherein it rests against said pin to short-circuit said pin, and a locking portion (130) having an essentially triangular section profile, a second plug (200) designed to cooperate with the first plug, and a flexible locking tab (220) having an essentially triangular section profile (230), designed to cooperate by an interference fit by locking with the profile of the locking portion of the first plug, wherein, during connection of the two plugs, in a first instance, the tab (220) is deflected by cooperation of the two essentially triangular profiles (130, 230) and engages the arm (120) and the first plug makes electrical contact with the second plug, and then, in a second instance, when the tab has cleared the triangular profile of the first plug, the tab deflects the arm from its short-circuit resting position to a position wherein the short-circuit is cancelled.
