    Abstract: Suction arrangements in hermetic compressors are disclosed. A hermetic compressor comprises: a hermetic shell having a hermetically sealed interior; a suction tube passing through the hermetic shell and having a suction tube outlet within the hermetically sealed interior; a cylinder block arranged within the hermetic shell and defining a compression chamber; a cylinder head forming a closed end of the compression chamber; a suction muffler having a suction muffler inlet opening within the hermetically sealed interior; and a discharge tube passing through the hermetic shell and in communication with the closed end of the compression chamber, the hermetic compressor being configured to draw a refrigerant into the compression chamber from suction tube outlet through the suction muffler, and to compress the refrigerant in the compression chamber such that compressed refrigerant passes through the closed end of the compression chamber and into the discharge tube, wherein the suction tube outlet is arranged to direct refrigerant flowing from the suction tube towards a surface of the cylinder head such that refrigerant flows over the surface of the cylinder head before entering the suction muffler inlet.

    Abstract: A suction muffler for a reciprocating compressor comprises a first housing portion and a second hosing portion. The first housing portion comprising a first inlet opening, and a second inlet opening. The second housing portion comprises a blocking member configured to block one of a first refrigerant flow path from the first inlet opening to a suction muffler outlet and a second refrigerant flow path from the second inlet opening to the suction muffler outlet. The blocking member can be provided in different configurations by a selection of the second housing portion or by configuring the relative arrangement of the first housing portion and the second housing portion.

    Abstract: A hermetic compressor is disclosed. The hermetic compressor comprises compressing unit and an electromotive unit. The compressing unit comprises: a cylinder block having a compression chamber; cylinder head having a discharge chamber which is controllably couplable to the compression chamber; a discharge muffler body portion and a discharge muffler cover which form a discharge muffler chamber coupled to the discharge chamber; a piston configured to compress a refrigerant in the compression chamber; and a main frame having a least one mounting leg. The electromotive unit comprises: a stator; a rotor; and a crankshaft coupled to the rotor. The electromotive unit is configured such that rotary motion of the rotor relative to the stator causes rotation of the crankshaft which drives the piston to compress the refrigerant in the compression chamber. The compressing unit is coupled to the stator of the electromotive unit and supported by the at least one mounting leg of the main frame and the discharge muffler cover.

    Abstract: A hermetic compressor and a stator insulator for are disclosed. The hermetic compressor comprises an electromotive portion which drives a compressing portion. The electromotive portion and the compressing portion are housed within a container. The electromotive portion has a stator which supports the compressing portion. The stator comprises a stator core and a lower insulator. The stator is supported above the base of the container by a plurality of suspension springs. The lower insulator is provided with at least one snubber which engages with one of the suspension springs.
