Abstract: The invention relates to a bending machine (46) for flat materials, comprising a machine frame (10), a lower (24) and an upper (64) cheek mounted on the machine frame by means of which the flat material (46) can be fixed, and a device (120,130) for displacing a bending tool by means of which a bending tool (110,310) can be displaced. The aim of the invention is to improve said bending machine in such a way that the movements of the bending tool (110,310) can be carried out with technically simple means and in a precise manner. To this end the bending tool (110,310) has a protruding bending part (242) with a curved pressure application surface (246) for exerting pressure to one side (116) of the flat material (46) and the bending tool (110,310) can be displaced by the bending tool displacement device (120, 320) between an initial bending position and a final bending position along a trajectory (260) around the respective bending edge (104,106).
