Abstract:
A disposable absorbent article that includes a first and second substrate, a portion of which is joined together with a hot-melt adhesive applied at a temperature of less than 130 C. At least one of the first second substrates has a basis weight of less than 15 grams per square meter. The adhesive provides suitable bond strength on low basis weight substrates and allows for flexible processing conditions.
Abstract:
Absorbent articles assembled using a low cold flow construction adhesive are described. The absorbent articles have an in bag compression opening force of less than about 0.75N. A method for making the absorbent articles is also described.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a disposable absorbent article comprising a chassis having a front waist region, a back waist region, and a crotch region between the front and back waist regions, said chassis having two opposing longitudinal edges and two perpendicularly placed end edges, said chassis further comprising:a. a liquid permeable topsheet spanning at least the crotch region; b. a backsheet spanning at least the crotch region; c. an absorbent core disposed between said topsheet and backsheet; and d. a elastic member disposed along at least one opposing longitudinal edge in either the front waist or back waist region of said chassis wherein said member comprises an unapertured, skinless elastomeric layer wherein said layer exhibits an Energy Recovery Value of at least about 0.77
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an elastic member, comprising an elastomeric material having a first surface and a second surface opposing the first surface, and a first coverstock layer which is joined to the first surface of the elastomeric material, wherein the elastomeric material has a Retention Force Held after 12 hours at 50 % extension (RFH12H) of at least about 40 g/inch. The present invention is also directed to a disposable garment, comprising a chassis having a front region, a back region and a crotch region between the front region and the back region; at least one pair of side panels extending laterally outwardly from the chassis in the front or back region; and at least one of the side panels comprising an elastomeric material extending laterally outwardly from the chassis; wherein the elastomeric material has a Retention Force Held after 12 hours at the 50 % extension (RFH12H) of at least about 40 g/inch. The chassis comprises a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet associated with the topsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a disposable pull-on garment having a front region, a back region and a crotch region between the front region and the back region. The disposable pull-on garment comprises: a chassis provided in the front, back and crotch regions; one pair of front ear panels extending laterally outward from the chassis in the front region; and one pair of back ear panels extending laterally outward from the chassis in the back region. Each of the ear panels has a body-facing surface and an outer-facing surface opposing the body-facing surface, and includes a first nonwoven layer provided on the body-facing surface on the ear panel, and a second nonwoven layer provided on the outer-facing surface on the ear panel. One of the first and second nonwoven layers is a spunbonded nonwoven layer including first component fibers formed by a polypropylene/polyethylene copolymer, while the other of the first and second nonwoven layers includes second component fibers formed by a polypropylene based polymer. The disposable pull-on garment further comprises seams each joining the corresponding front and back ear panels in an overlapping manner to form two leg openings and a waist opening.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an elastic laminate which is elastically extensible in at least one direction. The elastic laminate includes an elastic member having a first surface and a second surface opposing the first surface; and a spunbonded nonwoven layer joined to the first surface of the elastic member to form a laminate. The spunbonded nonwoven layer includes component fibers formed by a polypropylene/polyethylene copolymer. The laminate is mechanically stretched to form an elastic laminate. The present invention is also directed to a disposable article having the elastic laminate.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a process for making a fibrous web. The fibrous web comprises fibers and a functional material. The fibers are bonded by a binder and the functional material is immobilized by the binder. The process of the present invention comprises the steps of: forming a fiber aggregation comprising fibers, preparing a solution comprising the binder and the functional material uniformly dispersed together with the binder in the solution, immersing the fiber aggregation into the solution to disperse the functional material into the fiber aggregation, and drying the fiber aggregation to form the fibrous web.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a disposable absorbent article. The disposable absorbent article comprises a liquid pervious topsheet; a liquid impervious backsheet combined with the topsheet; an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet; and a barrier cuff having a proximal edge and a distal edge, the proximal edge being joined to the topsheet and the distal edge being away from the top surface of the topsheet. The barrier cuff comprises a single layer web having a water resistance value of at least about 150 mmH2O, and an average bending force value of less than about 25 mg cm /cm.
