Abstract:
A coupling system comprises tractor coupling means (2) which engage with complementary trailer coupling means (4). The tractor and/or trailer coupling means (2, 4) is provided on a coupling surface (17, 19) thereof, with annular channels (108) arranged to form a continuous sealed passageway upon mechanical engagement of the tractor and trailer coupling means (4), so to allow the supply of one or more services between the tractor unit (202, 204) and trailer unit (204, 208). The tractor coupling means (2) is rotatably mounted with respect to the tractor unit (202; 204) and the trailer coupling means (4) is rigidly attached to the trailer unit (204; 208), such that when the vehicle articulates the trailer coupling means (4) drives rotation of the rotatable tractor coupling means (2). A locking mechanism for locking two coupling units is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method for receiving cell broadcast messages is described. The method includes communicating with a first cell. The method also includes switching to communicating with a second cell. A cell broadcast channel is read after switching cells. The method further includes switching from a dedicated mode to a packet idle mode. The cell broadcast channel is reread once after switching from a dedicated mode to a packet idle mode. Other aspects, embodiments and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract:
An office security unit (1) comprises a sheet metal casing (2) including a pair of spaced-apart sidewalls (3, 4); a back wall (5) interconnecting the sidewalls (3, 4); an openable top wall (7); an openable front wall (8); a shelf (10) located within the casing on which shelf a valuable item(s) (11, 12) of office equipment is adapted to be seated; means to elevate the shelf (10) from a lower, storage position - in which the item(s) is wholly within the casing (2), is obscured, and is rendered secure by closure or replacement of the top wall (7) and the front wall (8) - to an upper, usable position in which, with the top wall (7) or front wall (8) opened, the then elevated shelf (10) presents the item(s) (11, 12) at a suitable working height for the user; and means to affect controlled descent of the shelf (10) from its upper position to its lower position.

Abstract:
A method for reducing idle mode power consumption is disclosed. An idle mode is entered. A neighboring base station is selected. If the selected neighboring base station is assigned a high-frequency monitoring mode, a signal strength of the neighboring base station is measured. A low-frequency monitoring mode is assigned to the selected neighboring base station if the signal strength of the selected neighboring base station has been below a power threshold for longer than a time threshold. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
Abstract:
1. A releasable and re-usable tie or clasp (1), for the temporary closure of a plastics bag, comprising:- (i) a planar, or generally planar body (1), having a perimeter and being of thin-walled multi-directional tear-resistant synthetic plastics construction, so as to provide tear- resistant flexibility; (ii) an aperture (3) provided centrally of the body (l),and of relatively small dimension (s) compared with that or those of the body (1); and (iii) at least two mutually spaced-apart slits (2) intersecting the central aperture (3) and extending towards the perimeter of the body to define therebetween a flexible tongue (4) which terminates in a convex edge defining at least a portion of the aperture (3).
Abstract:
A data transmitter (10) divides incoming data for transmission into data blocks and passes them in frame transmission order to a radio link stage (16) via a serial frame buffer (14). The buffer (14) holds the data frames until the radio link stage (16) is able to transmit them. The incoming data has associated with it various parameters. The radio link stage (16) has allocated to it radio link resources. The parameters and resources, which change independently of each other from time to time, are supplied to a controller (18) which calculates high and low buffer levels therefrom. The controller (18) controls the passing of the data frames through the frame buffer (14) to maintain the number of frames in the buffer at any instant of time at a level between the calculated high and low levels.
Abstract:
A data transfer procedure enables data of a data sequence to be transferred between a transmitting entity (13) and a receiving entity (19). The entities each comprise a higher data handling layer (11, 17) and a lower data handling layer (12, 18). The procedure comprises transferring down from the higher data handling layer (11) of the transmitting entity (13) to the lower data handling layer (12) of the transmitting entity a data unit of the data sequence, which data unit comprises one or more segments. The or each segment is transmitted from the lower data handling level (12) of the transmitting entity (13) to the lower data handling level (17) of the receiving entity (19) via a transmission link between the transmitting entity (13) and the receiving entity (19). An acknowledgement of receipt of the or each segment is sent from the lower data handling level (17) of the receiving entity to the lower data handling level (12) of the transmitting entity. The or each segment is transferred from the lower data handling layer (17) of the receiving entity to the higher data handling layer (18) of the receiving entity in data sequence order. The higher data handling layer of the transmitting entity (13) is arranged to retain a copy of the data unit until such time as an at least implied acknowledgement of receipt of earlier segments in the sequence is sent back from the receiving entity (19) to the lower data handling level of the transmitting entity.
Abstract:
