Abstract:
Registering of vehicles in a road toll facility provided with radio transmitter and receiver equipment (7) for microwaves arranged to communicate with vehicle units (12) provided in the vehicles (4), preferably with a transponder. On command from the road toll facility, identity is obtained from the road toll facility and a toll debiting operation is performed. When a vehicle (4) enters the toll facility it is detected by means of the activation of the toll facility radio equipment (7) if the vehicle (4) is provided with a vehicle unit (12) and if it is in function for the performance of a correct payment maneuver. Vehicles for which such cannot take place are exposed to a successive position determination by means of video cameras (9) through an image processing in which the vehicle in question is tracked between a predetermined recording site and the position where the payment status of the vehicle has been established by means of the radio equipment. In the recording site the number plate of the vehicle is recorded for identification by means of a video camera (10), which identification in conjunction with data such as time and place is used for search and for post-debiting of the toll.

Abstract:
A device for information transmission, a so-called transponder, for receiving a first microwave signal, modulating and coding, and retransmission of a second microwave signal comprising at least one antenna means designed in micro strip technique and a ground plane. The device is primarily characterized in that the antenna layer (6) of the antenna means is provided with a recess (8), in which at least some of the electronic components (9, 16) of the transponder and/or micro strip conduits (12, 18) are located. Through this embodiment of the device, the device will be compact, light, inexpensive in manufacturing, and gives a well-defined and directed antenna lobe. The device will thereby have a good range and is especially adapted for use in material handling of for example parcels and containers.
Abstract:
A system is described for communication by means of signals in form of electromagnetic waves, especially microwaves, within a restricted communication area (3, 7) comprising at least one first unit (4, 6) for emitting a first enquiry signal and receiving a number of reply signals and a number of further units in form of transponders (1, 2, 8) emitting these reply signals when being present in the communication area. The transponders are equipped with modulating means (25, 26) for modulating the arriving enquiry signal with individual reply codes containing information and means for emitting this information as a reply signal. The system is primarily characterized of that each transponder modulating means (26, 72) is adapted to continuously be supplied with its individual reply code from a memory (28) within a first relatively short interval (19) being continuously repeated with relatively long intervals (18), the reply code thus being available to be emitted together with the reply signal in time, completely independent of the enquiry signal. In a preferred embodiment of the system a means is established in the transponder to randomly or pseudorandomly generate said intervals (18).
Abstract:
An information transmission system working with electromagnetic waves comprising a l:st communication unit (1) with a 1:st transmitter and a 1:st receiver and a 2:nd communication unit (5) with a 2:nd receiver and a 2:nd transmitter. The 1:st communication unit is mounted on a stationary stand (2) and the 2:nd communication unit (5) is mounted on a vehicle (3), movable along a path (4). The antenna lobes of the transmitters and receivers are designed and oriented in such a way that communication between the l:st and 2:nd communication unit is possible, when the vehicle (3) is located within a relatively short distance from the stand (2). The information transmission system is primarily characterized in that the 1:st transmitter is so designed, that its antenna transmits a linearly polarized wave, whose polarization vector (E vector) in the polarization plane principally forms an angle alpha with the horizontal component in the polarization plane, alpha being preferably 45 DEG . The receivers and the 2:nd transmitter are all arranged to receive and transmit, respectively, a wave with corresponding polarization. Thereby, disturbing reflexes in existing principally horizontal and vertical surfaces (8) on the vehicle (3) are avoided.
Abstract:
A device located in a vehicle for the registration of fees. It comprises an activation unit (1) for remote communication, a time counter (3), a sensor (8) for sensing the travelling status of the vehicle from travel to immobility, a manouevering unit (4) for starting and stopping the registration of the parking time, a registration unit (6) for the vehicle fees and preferably a signal unit (9) for indication of whether the vehicle fees are registered. The time counter (3) is arranged to register cost in dependence on time partly during periods when the sensor (8) indicates movement in the vehicle and partly when the manouevering unit (4) indicates parking position of the vehicle, whereas no fee registration occurs when the sensor indicates that the vehicle is running and the manouevering unit is not set on parking position. The sensor consists of an accelerometer.
Abstract:
A device for measuring force components, in single crystal material, consisting of at least one cantilever beam (1, 2, 3, 4) inclined to the plane normal, with adherent mass of inertia is described. It is particularly characterized in that the angle to the plane normal of the cantilever beam is achieved through etching of the single crystal material, and is defined by the inclination of one of the crystal planes that constitute the beam and that normally, the bending of the cantilever beam inclined to the plane normal principally occurs towards the beam. A method of manufacturing such a device is also described.
Abstract:
A device for detection and information transmission comprises a first unit (1) for transmitting and receiving microwaves and shows at least a first antenna (6). It is primarily characterized in that the unit is so arranged that within a first antenna lobe (12, 19) through Doppler shift of a transmitted first microwave signal it detects movements in an object. The unit is further arranged to communicate within a second antenna lobe (7, 13, 20) with a so-called transponder.

A system for communication by means of microwaves between transponders (3) and a central unit (5) is described. It is primarily characterized by a communication unit (4) for directed communication at a relatively short distance with the transponders (3) and at a relatively long distance with the central unit (5). The communication unit (4) also comprises a memory (23) for the intermediate storing of information.
Abstract:
A device for information transmission, a so-called transponder, for receiving a first microwave signal, modulating and coding, and retransmitting a second microwave signal, comprising at least one antenna means made in microstrip technique is described. The device is characterized primarily in that the antenna means comprises an antenna layer (20), acting towards a ground plane (21), the antenna layer and the ground plane having essentially equal area, and in that the device further comprises a reflex means (23), arranged next to or at a distance of at most 1/6 of the air wave length of the first microwave signal from the edges of the antenna layer and the ground plane, so that an antenna lobe directional from the antenna means is obtained, comprised of directly transmitted microwave signal and reflected microwave signal. With this embodiment a device is obtained that is compact, effective, light and inexpensive and gives a well defined and directional antenna lobe for communication with a good range.
