Abstract: Thiocarbonate compounds which are curable and include at least one polymerizable functional group, preferably an unsaturated functional group. Curable compositions including the polymerizable group containing thiocarbonate compounds are disclosed. In one embodiment, the curable compositions comprise the cureable polymerizable group containing thiocarbonate compounds and a reactive diluent, or a photoinitiator, or a combination thereof, Methods for preparing the curable thiocarbonate compounds, compositions containing the thiocarbonate compounds, and cured compositions are also described. The curable thiocarbonate compounds are useful as coatings, adhesives, and sealants for various substrates such as wood, paper, plastic, metal, or the like.
