Abstract:
A notebook device is provided which records the movement path of a writing implement to store the movement path as electronic data by merely writing a note directly on a paper sheet placed within a frame with the writing implement. This notebook device includes a notebook, and an optical sensor including at least one pair of light-emitting and light-receiving elements mounted to a rectangular frame. The optical sensor senses the interception of light beams traveling from the light-emitting element to the light-receiving element which is caused by the writing implement within the frame to thereby output information on the position of the writing implement. When a writing operation is performed on part of a paper sheet revealed within the frame of this optical sensor with a writing implement, the movement path of the tip of the writing implement is stored as electronic data in a storage means.
Abstract:
A desk notepad device is provided which records the movement path of a writing implement to store the movement path as electronic data by merely writing a note directly on a paper sheet placed within a frame with the writing implement. This desk notepad device includes a desk notepad tool, and an optical sensor including at least one pair of light-emitting and light-receiving elements mounted to a rectangular frame. The optical sensor senses the interception of light beams traveling from the light-emitting element to the light-receiving element which is caused by the writing implement within the frame to thereby output information about the position of the writing implement. When a writing operation is performed on a paper sheet revealed within the frame of this optical sensor, the movement path of the tip of the writing implement is stored as electronic data in a storage means.
Abstract:
A preference information managing apparatus which outputs preference information reflecting a user's preference by (i) storing characteristics information which represents characteristics of a content relating to the user's usage and (ii) calculating a score of each piece of characteristics information, comprising: an obtaining unit operable to obtain characteristics information corresponding to a packaged content used by the user; a storing unit operable to store characteristics information obtained by the obtaining unit; and a calculating unit operable to (i)calculate a score of each piece of characteristics information stored in the storing unit, and (ii) output a piece of characteristics information whose score is high, as preference information.
Abstract:
A desk notepad device is provided which allows a user to write a note on a paper sheet, which is capable of properly converting and storing the note in electronic form, and which allows the user's writing operation on the paper sheet in a natural manner even when such storage in electronic form is achieved. The desk notepad device includes: a desk notepad tool having paper sheets bound together, the paper sheets capable of being written upon with a writing implement; a rectangular frame-shaped optical waveguide W surrounding at least part of the paper sheets; and a storage means C for storing therein the path of movement of a tip of the writing implement as electronic data when a writing operation is performed on part of the paper sheets revealed within the frame of the optical waveguide with the writing implement.
Abstract:
The playback apparatus of the present invention is able to judge whether a region code assigned to a BD-ROM matches a region code assigned to the playback apparatus. When the judgment result is in the affirmative, the playback apparatus plays back the content recorded on the optical disc. When the judgment result is in the negative, the playback apparatus does not play back the content, except when an exceptional playback is authorized. The exceptional playback is authorized when a combination of the content identifier of the content to be played back and the apparatus region code satisfies a predetermined condition defined by a right owner of the content.
Abstract:
An information display system is provided which allows an input operation using a conventional writing implement, and which allows an appropriate input operation adapted to a large-sized display. This system includes a computer, a large-sized display, and an optical input means including at least one pair of light-emitting and light-receiving elements mounted to a rectangular frame, the optical input means sensing the interception of light beams caused in association with an input element within the frame to thereby output information on the position of the input element within the frame. When a note is written with a writing implement by using a print on a printed material within the frame of the optical input means as a guide, new information such as the note is displayed in superimposed manner in an appropriate position corresponding to the large-sized display.
Abstract:
An electronic book device is provided which allows a user to perform an input operation without directly touching a display, which does not require a purpose-built stylus for the input operation, which is capable of leaving a note entered by the input operation on a paper sheet, and which facilitates the input operation. The electronic book device includes: a display; and an input including a rectangular frame-shaped optical waveguide and outputting information inputted to within the frame of the optical waveguide to the electronic book reader to cause the information to appear on the display. The optical waveguide includes first and second sections opposed to each other in the form of the frame. The first section includes a plurality of light-emitting cores formed therein, and the second section includes a plurality of light-receiving cores formed therein. The cores have respective tips positioned on inner edges of the frame.

Abstract:
An electronic book device is provided which allows a user to enter a note without directly touching a display, and which is capable of inputting the path of the note while leaving the handwriting of the note on a paper sheet with a conventional writing implement. This electronic book device includes: an electronic book reader including a display; and an optical input means including at least one pair of light-emitting and light-receiving elements mounted to a rectangular frame. The optical input means senses the interception of light beams traveling from the light-emitting element to the light-receiving element by an input element positioned within the frame to thereby output information about the position of the input element. When a note is written on a touch area revealed within the frame, the path of the input element is displayed and is superimposed on information appearing on the display.
