In some embodiments, in an exemplary advertising system multiple bidders compete for ad cache space on devices which display ads. The bidders are, e.g., advertisers, ad networks, and/or loyalty program providers. The devices which store and display the ads are, e.g., mobile and/or stationary wireless communications devices. An individual bidder is provided with contextual information that is of relevance to the individual bidder. The contextual information is about the device onto which ads may be loaded. Different bidders may be, and sometimes are, supplied with different restricted information. Various embodiments are directed to a methods and apparatus for operating an ad broker system.
Abstract:
Various embodiments are directed to the transmission, e.g., broadcast, of identification information and corresponding control information in discovery signals by a wireless communications device as part of a discovery process. In some embodiments, the identifier identifies one of: an advertisement, a user, or a module. In one embodiment the identifier identifies an advertisement, and the corresponding control information communicates a bid factor used in determining the value of a bid for an ad display opportunity. In another embodiment, the identifier identifies a dynamically modifiable advertisement, and the corresponding control information communicates information that is used to set and/or modify the dynamically modifiable portion of the advertisement. In still another embodiment, the identifier identifiers a user and the control information communicates status information. In yet another embodiment, the identifier identifies a module, e.g., a software application, and the control information communicates a command for the module to perform a particular operation.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus providing intelligent interface selection for legacy and non-legacy applications. The method includes intercepting a networking function call from an application desiring radio access, selecting a radio from a plurality of candidate radios based on selection criteria, and binding the radio to the application. To facilitate flow mobility, the method includes allocating an ephemeral port to the radio, generating a flow binding rule based only on the ephemeral port, and signaling the flow binding rule to a home agent.

Aspects describe enabling two peers that have already paired together under some circumstances to re-identify themselves under different circumstances so that the peers can bypass performing another pairing only to discover that they are already paired. A Bloom filter is constructed from an available pool of locally selected identifiers and is sent to a peer node in a first message. Upon receiving the message with the Bloom filter, peer node checks all its known identifiers. If peer node finds that one of its identifiers is a member of the Bloom filter, peer node sends a reply in order to achieve a mutual identification.

In a wireless communication system having multiple access nodes, a home agent (HA) maintains home address (HoA) for a mobile node so that an IP session can be established. As the mobile node moves within a coverage area of various access nodes, the mobile node can establish a secure relationship with a local access gateway and thereby register a local IP address, referred to as a care-of-address (CoA), with the HA. Mobile IP protocol can be established so that multiple sessions can be conducted. In maintaining policy and charging control (PCC), HA informs a policy and charging rules function (PCRF), which in turn can then send the appropriate PCC rules (e.g., IP flows and related policies) to a policy and charging enforcement function (PCEF) for a particular access gateway. Coordination necessary to associate CoA and HoA can further include filter information as to application can run on a particular interface.
Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate enabling multiple address access between two or more networks. A home agent can update a binding cache with a particular proxy binding update (PBU) to include two or more network gateway IP addresses associated with a user equipment (UE) within two or more networks or systems. When the UE in idle mode moves between networks or systems to which registration has occurred, an attachment procedure is not performed since the home agent includes the network gateway IP addresses related to such UE. Thus, inter-system idle mode mobility is enabled without having to perform a full attachment, re-registration, or de-registration based on the network location of the UE.

Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate indicating and determining mobility management modes in access identifiers for wireless communications networks. Wireless devices can indicate mobility management modes to be utilized by choosing a target system and communicating the chosen system and a home system to one or more network components. The network components can infer or otherwise determine a mobility management mode based at least in part on a relationship between the target and home systems.

A method of operating a wireless device includes displaying an advertisement on the wireless device. In addition, the method includes differentiating the display of the advertisement based on at least one criterion in order to indicate to a user of the wireless device a satisfaction of the at least one criterion. A method of operating a server includes receiving at least one criterion. In addition, the method includes differentiating a display of an advertisement based on the at least one criterion in order to indicate to a user of a wireless device a satisfaction of the at least one criterion. Furthermore, the method includes sending the differentiated advertisement for display on the wireless device.
