A needle tip shielding device (100), comprising a base plate (101) with a hole (102) extending there through from the proximal side of the base plate (101) to the distal side of the base plate, and at least one resilient arm (103) extending at an attachment point at said base plate (101) is provided. The resilient arm (103) has a resting state wherein a distal hook (104) of the resilient arm (103) will coincide with a straight imaginary line extending longitudinally through said hole (102) in the axial direction of said base plate (101). The resilient arm (103) comprises a knob (105) at its distal end, said knob (105) extending laterally from the resilient arm (103). The knob (105) is shaped with an outer curvature in the transversal plane (106) around an axis parallel to the central axis of the needle tip shielding device (100), and said knob (105) is shaped with an outer curvature in the midsaggital plane (107) around an axis perpendicular to the central axis of the needle tip shielding device (100).

A catheter unit (200) for use in an intravenous catheter instrument (1000) is provided. The catheter unit (200) comprises a catheter hub (201) and a catheter (202) extending distally from the catheter hub (201). The catheter (202) has a lumen (203) being in flow communication with an interior cavity (204) of the catheter hub (201). The interior cavity (204) is provided with a cooperation groove (205) at a proximal zone of the interior cavity (204). A catheter instrument (1000), comprising such a catheter unit (200), is also provided.

A needle guard (100) for protecting a human or animal from accidental contact with a needle connected to said needle guard (100)is disclosed. The needle guard (100) comprises a mounting base (140) for the needle, a hinge structure (120) connecting the mounting base (140) to a needle shield (110), and a needle shield hinge (133) adjacent to the hinge structure (120) and needle shield (110). The hinge structure (120) is adapted to pivot the needle shield (110) relative to the mounting base (140) from an open position in which the needle shield (110) is separated from the needle,to a closed position in which the needle shield (110) encloses the needle. The needle shield hinge (133) is adapted to pivot the needle shield (110) relative to the hinge structure (120). A method of manufacturing the needle guard (100)is also disclosed.

The needle tip shielding device comprises a fixing arrangement having a proximal side and a distal side, which fixing arrangement is comprising at least one engaging element, which engaging element is resilient and resiliency striving from a compressed state towards an expanded state, in which expanded state the shortest distance between a point of said engaging element and the central axis of said needle tip shielding device is longer than the shortest distance between said central axis and any other point of said needle tip shielding device, A catheter instrument comprising the needle tip shielding device and a method for manufacturing is also disclosed.

A spring clip needle tip shielding device (100) for arrangement in a catheter hub of an intravenous catheter assembly (1000) is provided. The spring clip needle tip shielding device (100) comprises a base plate (101) with a hole (102) extending there through and at least one resilient arm (103) extending at an attachment point (104) at said base plate (101). The at least one resilient arm (103) has a resting state, from which it may be urged to yield free passage through said hole (102) in an axial direction of said base plate (101) in a tension state, said at least one resilient arm (103) being adapted for clamping a needle tip (304) of a needle (301) extending through said hole (102) when said resilient arm (103) is in said resting state. Any straight imaginary line extending longitudinally through said hole (102) in the axial direction of said base plate (101) coincides with said at least one resilient arm (103) when said resilient arm (103) is in said resting state (107) of said body. The spring clip needle tip shielding device (100) is of a rigid material, and at least a part thereof is coated with a solid lubricant (106). The needle shield (110) comprises a proximal base plate (111), said base plate (111) having an opening (113) for allowing a needle shaft (103) to run there through, and a distal cover plate (115), said cover plate (115) having an opening (116) for allowing the needle shaft (103) to run there through. A skin adhesive material is arranged on the distal side of the distal cover plate (115). An injection needle assembly (100) comprising such a needle shield is also provided.
