Abstract:
An intravenous catheter system may include a catheter adapter, which may be integrated. The intravenous catheter system may also include a housing coupled to a proximal end of the catheter adapter, an introducer needle having a proximal end, a distal tip, and a needle lumen extending between the proximal end of the introducer needle and the distal tip, a guidewire disposed within the housing and the needle lumen, and a guidewire advancement element. The housing may include a proximal end, a distal end, and a slot. A proximal end of the introducer needle may be secured within the housing. The guidewire advancement element may extend through the slot and be moveable along the slot in a distal direction to move the guidewire from a retracted position to an advanced position, in which the guidewire may extend beyond the distal tip.
Abstract:
Present invention discloses a catheter device having self-activating mechanism. The self- activating catheter assembly comprises, a catheter hub (1), cylindrical valve (2), actuator (3), needle (13) and a flash back chamber (18). The intravenous catheter of present invention having a novel one way valve design which prevent of reverse flow of blood.
Abstract:
A catheter hub assembly. The catheter hub assembly includes a catheter hub body, a septum and a septum retainer, the catheter hub body having a distal end, a proximal and an internal wall defining an internal fluid passageway therebetween, the internal wall defining a transitional step within the internal fluid passageway, the septum positioned within the internal fluid passageway such that a distal end of the septum abuts up against the transitional step, the septum retainer at least partially receivable within the internal fluid passageway and having an outer wall shaped and sized to interlock with the inner wall of the catheter hub body, the outer wall including one or more lateral ribs configured to inhibit rotation of the septum retainer relative to the catheter hub body.
Abstract:
An IV catheter system (100) having a catheter component (102) and a needle component (104). The catheter component has a catheter hub (120), a cannula (126) extending distally from the catheter hub, and a push feature (190) extending outward from the catheter hub. The push feature has an outer surface (420) that receives contact from a digit to move the IV catheter system from an insertion configuration, in which the needle is within the cannula, to a fluid delivery configuration, in which the needle is outside the catheter hub. The needle component has a needle hub (150) and a needle (154) extending distally from the needle hub. The push feature is formed of a flexible material that causes the push feature, in response to pressure exerted on the outer surface by a dressing securing the catheter component to a patient, to deflect the outer surface toward the cannula axis.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an IV catheter system., comprising a catheter hub (100), a needle hub (200) and a needle shield (300), wherein the needle of the needle hub is provided with a high friction surface part (207). Furthermore, an open and closed IV catheter system is described. Also disclosed is a needle hub (200) and a shielded needle system (600).
Abstract:
A catheter assembly comprises a catheter (18), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip disposed within the catheter (18), a catheter hub (14) connected to the catheter (18) having the needle (12) passing therethrough, the catheter hub (14) including a valve (38) that selectively permits or blocks a flow of fluid through the catheter (18), a valve actuator (54) that moves between a first position and a second position, and a return member (56) that returns the valve actuator (54) from the second position to the first position, and a needle protection member (176) that encloses the sharp distal tip of the needle (12).
Abstract:
Needle devices are disclosed in which a needle having a wall defining a needle lumen has a notch (120) formed through the wall. A transparent or semi-opaque window cover (130) made from a biocompatible material is provided over the notch. Blood flow through the needle lumen can be viewed through the notch with the window cover. The needle with the notch and window cover may be used with a variety of needle applications, including as catheter assemblies, indwelling assemblies, and most if not all over-the-needle type devices.
Abstract:
A low-profile universal passive protector is provided for an IV catheter comprising a hypodermic needle and a catheter. An elongate sheath defines a sheath cavity and a longitudinal axis. A slider is connected to the hypodermic needle and is movable along the sheath between first and second positions for withdrawing the needle into the sheath. A finger-press plate is coupled to the sheath and extends beyond the slider in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis to define a plate height. A flashback body is coupled to the slider in a manner such that the flashback body and slider collectively define a cavity in fluid communication with the hypodermic needle. The flashback body is sized and configured to extend from the slider in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis to define a flashback body height that is less than the plate height.
