Abstract: In a four-cycle, single-cylinder engine, a crankshaft is rotatably supported at a crankcase through a pair of bearings, and a driving wheel for wrapping connection and for transmitting rotational power of the crankshaft to a camshaft of a valve-moving device and a driving gear for transmitting the rotational power of the crankshaft to an oil pump are fixed to the crankshaft. A driving gear (127) is provided at an outer side of one (48) of bearings (47, 48), and at an outer side of the driving gear (127), there is provided a driving wheel (78) for wrapping connection. This enables the width of an engine to be reduced in a direction along the axis of the crankshaft.
