Abstract: A method of forming a retreaded tire is provided that employs adhesion of a pre-cured tread to a tire carcass, the method comprising:- - applying an adhesive to at least on of at least a section of the carcass surface and at least a section of the tread undersurface, - initiating a polymerization process of the adhesive, - collapsing the adhesive to spread the adhesive thereby and - waiting until the adhesive attains a predetermined handling strength.

Abstract: A method of positioning a flap onto a tire is provided that includes the steps of providing a tire (10) that has a bead, and providing a flap (14) that has a reference feature (16). The flap (14) is placed onto a positioning member (18) and at least a portion of the flap is located inside of the tire. The positioning member (18) is moved such that the reference feature (16) engages the bead and such that the positioning member (18) is moved out of engagement with the flap (14). The flap (14) is then adhered to the bead.

Abstract: A method of curing an adhesive layer between a flap and a tire is provided that includes the step of providing a tire that has a bead. A flap (12) that is connected to the bead is also present, and this connection is by an adhesive layer (14) that is uncured. Heat and pressure are applied to the flap (12) with a curing ring (20) that has an interface surface. The adhesive layer (14) is cured via transfer of the pressure and the heat to the adhesive layer (14), and the flap (12) and the bead are attached.

Abstract: A method of forming a retreaded tire is provided that employs adhesion of a pre-cured tread (202) to a tire carcass.
