Pneumatic tyre (2) cold retreading method and plant (1); the old worn tread strip is removed from the pneumatic tyre (2) in order to expose a equatorial surface (4) of a casing (5) of the pneumatic tyre (2); the equatorial surface (4) of the casing (5) is skived in order to remove any local damage; a green rubber cushion (8) and a pre-vulcanized tread strip (9) without a pattern are wound about the equatorial surface (4) of the casing (5); the green rubber cushion (8) inserted within the pneumatic tyre (2) between the casing (5) and the tread strip (9) is vulcanized; and a pattern is engraved on the tread strip (9) wound about the equatorial surface (4) of the casing (5) after the vulcanization of the pneumatic tyre (2). During vulcanization, the pneumatic tyre (2) is maintained at ambient pressure and radial pressure is mechanically applied to the tread strip ( 9).

A method of forming a retreaded tire is provided that employs adhesion of a pre-cured tread (202) to a tire carcass. The adhesive is applied to at least one of at least of the carcass surface (200a) and at least a section of the tread undersurface (204) such the adhesive is applied in a predetermined pattern (205). The polymerization process of the adhesive is initiated, wherein the initiating includes collapsing the adhesive to spread the adhesive thereby. The method also comprises the step of waiting until polymerization of the adhesive attains a predetermined handling strength along an interface of the pre-cured tread an the carcass.

The invention includes methods of forming a retreaded tire, and treads there for. Particular embodiments of such methods provide a tire carcass configured to receive the tire tread along an annular tread-receiving area and a pre-cured tire tread including a tread body and a detachable connector. The connector is arranged within a thickness of the tread between a top void portion and a bottom void portion and extending across a width of the top void portion and of the bottom void portion. The detachable connector is configured to separate from the tread upon application of a separation force. Further steps include assembling a retreaded tire by arranging the tire tread atop a bonding layer arranged between the tire tread and the tire carcass, bonding the tire tread to the tire carcass, and removing the detachable connector from the top void portion after the step of bonding.

In particular embodiments, a method of forming a retreaded tire includes the steps of: applying a tread to a tread-engaging portion of a tire carcass, the tread having an initial width and a layer of cushion gum interposed between the tread and tire carcass; placing a curing membrane about the tread to form a tire curing assembly having a compartment between the membrane and tread; placing the tire curing assembly in a vessel chamber; pressurizing the chamber to a predetermined pressure; heating the chamber to a predetermined temperature; pressurizing the compartment to a pressure greater than 14.7 psia and less than the chamber pressure to provide a pressure differential, the step initializing after the step of pressurizing the chamber initializes and whereby a final tread width is provided that is equal to 98.0% or more of the initial tread width when the initial tread width is approximately 290-500 mm.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems associated with traction devices for vehicle tires are disclosed herein. In various embodiments, a tire may include a tread material bonded with a casing, the tread material having a tread pattern and one or more tractive devices may be disposed within voids in the tread pattern. In some embodiments, a media passage may be disposed between the tread material and the casing substantially under one or more of the voids in the tread pattern, the chambers and/or channels being controllable to urge movement of a corresponding tractive device.

The invention relates to a method for retreading tires with a premoulded and prevulcanised tread (2). It relates to a device for measuring the feed of the tread (2). Such device is comprised of a stop (5) displacable on a guiding rail (6) and attached to a notched endless beld (7) maintained by two pulleys (8) and (9), a motor (10) and an optical coder (11). During the application phase of the trade (2) to the carcass (21), the stops (5) exerts a small force on the free end of the tread set on a roller (4) preparation table (3).
