    Abstract: Pneumatic tyre (2) cold retreading method and plant (1); the old worn tread strip is removed from the pneumatic tyre (2) in order to expose a equatorial surface (4) of a casing (5) of the pneumatic tyre (2); the equatorial surface (4) of the casing (5) is skived in order to remove any local damage; a green rubber cushion (8) and a pre-vulcanized tread strip (9) without a pattern are wound about the equatorial surface (4) of the casing (5); the green rubber cushion (8) inserted within the pneumatic tyre (2) between the casing (5) and the tread strip (9) is vulcanized; and a pattern is engraved on the tread strip (9) wound about the equatorial surface (4) of the casing (5) after the vulcanization of the pneumatic tyre (2). During vulcanization, the pneumatic tyre (2) is maintained at ambient pressure and radial pressure is mechanically applied to the tread strip ( 9).

    Abstract: A method of forming a retreaded tire is provided that employs adhesion of a pre-cured tread (202) to a tire carcass. The adhesive is applied to at least one of at least of the carcass surface (200a) and at least a section of the tread undersurface (204) such the adhesive is applied in a predetermined pattern (205). The polymerization process of the adhesive is initiated, wherein the initiating includes collapsing the adhesive to spread the adhesive thereby. The method also comprises the step of waiting until polymerization of the adhesive attains a predetermined handling strength along an interface of the pre-cured tread an the carcass.

    Abstract: The invention includes methods of forming a retreaded tire, and treads there for. Particular embodiments of such methods provide a tire carcass configured to receive the tire tread along an annular tread-receiving area and a pre-cured tire tread including a tread body and a detachable connector. The connector is arranged within a thickness of the tread between a top void portion and a bottom void portion and extending across a width of the top void portion and of the bottom void portion. The detachable connector is configured to separate from the tread upon application of a separation force. Further steps include assembling a retreaded tire by arranging the tire tread atop a bonding layer arranged between the tire tread and the tire carcass, bonding the tire tread to the tire carcass, and removing the detachable connector from the top void portion after the step of bonding.
