Abstract: A fish-attractant product (10) that facilitates catching fish includes a body (12) preformed into a predetermined shape (34, 36, 38, 40, 42) from a material dissolvable in water. The body (12) of the product contains an olfactory and/or gustatory fish-attractant material that is releasable in water in which the product is immersed. The product is adapted in use not to be swallowed by a fish and is directly and/or indirectly attachable to a fishing line (16) ahead of a lure (18) or a baitable hook (26), such that the fish-attractant material during use provides a fish-attracting odor and/or taste through dissolution of the body (12). The product (10) is a separate component designed to add fish-attractant gradually to the water by positioning it on the fishing line (16) directly in front of the selected lure (18) or the angler’s preferred bait. Methods of making and using the product (10) are also disclosed.
