    Abstract: A cutting tool (30, 230, 320) assembly includes a tool body (32) and a clamping mechanism for releasably clamping a cutting insert (50, 250, 350) to the tool body. The clamping mechanism includes a rotatable cam member (68, 268, 368), a coupling member (70, 270, 370), a biasing spring (72, 272, 372) and a clamping element (78, 278, 378). The rotation of the rotatable cam member in opposite senses results in the adjustment of the position of the coupling member in opposite directions, which results in a displacement of the clamping element, and therefore changing the locking position to a releasing position and vice versa.
