Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A sidelink UE may switch from one synchronization source to another synchronization source that has a higher synchronization priority level if one or more conditions or rules are satisfied. For instance, if a UE that is its own synchronization source (e.g., is utilizing a lower priority synchronization source) transmits SLSSs and does not receive any sidelink data transmission in response for a threshold amount of time, the UE may attempt to switch to a different synchronization source that has a higher synchronization priority level. For example, the UE may pause its SLSS transmissions and scan for SLSSs from other synchronization sources (e.g., that have higher synchronization priority levels).

An apparatus which includes a remote terminal unit (RTU) having a housing (402) is provided. At least a portion of the housing includes a shell (804) of thermally-conductive material. The RTU also includes at least one circuit board assembly (416-420) having at least one processing device (502) configured to communicated with one or more industrial control and automation field devices (106) via one or more input/output (I/O) channels (606a-606n). The at least one circuit board assembly (416-420) is positioned within the shell (804). The RTU further includes a heat sink (812) configured to remove thermal energy from the at least one processing device (502). In addition, the RTU includes a thermal pad (814) configured to receive the thermal energy from the heat sink (812) and to provide the thermal energy to the shell (804).

A communication method in a ring network comprising a plurality of communication devices, wherein the communication method comprises: detecting the status of the ring network in a first communication device; changing a port of the first communication device from a blocking state to a forwarding state in response to a detection of a failure in the ring network; filtering received data messages in at least one of the plurality of communication device, wherein forwarding of a data message in a communication device is stopped is response to a determination that the data message is originated in said communication device; and changing the port of the first communication device from a forwarding state to a blocking state in response to a detection of a recovery of the ring network.
