Abstract: A method for getting a capability information of Policy and Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF).The method involves: the Policy Control and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) gets the capability information of the PCEF, then said PCRF works under the capability information. Also, the present invention discloses a PCRF. In an embodiment of the invention, a PCEF reports his capabilities to the PCRF, and the PCRF makes policy decision or initiates the relative application event subscription to the PCEF after getting the capabilities of said PCEF. Consequently the invention prevents making mistakes of subscription and decision which made by the PCRF without getting the capability information of PCEF.
