A user apparatus (1), a content provider apparatus (2), and a settlement server (3) are connected to one another via a line. The user apparatus includes a video telephone (11), a charging device (12), and a terminal booth (13) for containing them. The content provider apparatus (2) includes a video telephone (21) bidirectionally connected to the user video telephone (11) and a personal computer (23) for displaying a location of the user apparatus (1), transmitting input transaction information to the settlement server (3), and displaying information on received money from the settlement server (3). A user enters the terminal booth (13) of the user apparatus (1), receives service from the provider, and performs settlement of the charging in the charging device (12) in the terminal booth (13).

An education service using a communicate line for producing a powerful effect on education by distributing pre−stored multimedia teaching materials such as videos on−line and enabling interaction with an instructor on the basis of the multimedia teaching materials. An education service system comprises a two−way communication server (10) for two−way communication through multimedia, a content management server (20) for managing multimedia contents, a content distributing server (12) for distributing contents stored in the content managing server (20) to user terminals, and operation/management system (50 to 56). The education server system provides a service of a combination of an interactive service and an automatic service. The education service system has a function of automatically conducting lesson grading and level judging test. Further the system uses record cards on which the histories of lessons of the members are recorded and has functions of automatically creating an individual intensification−point report and an education plan and of automatically extracting students being followed.

In addition to the bidirectional interactive function by using multimedia information including video and audio, multimedia contents such as a moving picture, a still image, and a text are registered in advance, which are fetched when required for performing conference, education, medical care, nursing care, and various consultations, thereby realizing a sophisticated information communication service system. The system includes a bidirectional communication server (10) for performing bidirectional communication by multimedia, a content management server (12) for storing multimedia contents, and a content delivery server (14) for delivering the contents stored in the content management server to a user terminal. The content management server has a content archiver (16) storing material contents and performs delivery according to a scenario in which a combination of material contents is defined along the time axis. The bidirectional communication server also has a data conference function and a chat function as well as a resource management function and a charging function.
