Abstract:
Antistatic optical constructions have optical films that include antistatic layers and optically-transmissive adhesives. A liquid crystal display assembly including the antistatic construction is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Antireflective films are described comprising a light transmissive substrate and a low refractive index layer disposed on the light transmissive substrate. The low refractive index layer comprises the reaction product of polymerizable resin composition comprising at least 20 wt-% fumed silica. In one embodiment, the polymerizable resin is ethylenically unsaturated. In a favored embodiment, the low refractive index layer increases in porosity from the light transmissive substrate interface to an opposing porous surface.
Abstract:
A backlight suitable for use in a display device includes an illumination device having at least one light source and a back reflector stack including a reflective layer and a transparent layer having substantially uniform refractive index and having a plurality of light-directing protrusions disposed in a matrix array. The transparent layer is disposed between the reflective layer and the illumination device with the plurality of light-directing protrusions facing away from the reflective layer. The plurality of light-directing protrusions are configured and disposed in a configuration that is not registered to any light source of the illumination device.
Abstract:
A curable composition is provided comprising an oligomer having a plurality of pendent and/or terminal ethylenically unsaturated, free-radically polymerizable functional groups, a free-radically polymerizable crosslinking agent, and/or a diluent monomer, and a photoinitiator. The composition, when cured, is non-yellowing, exhibits low shrinkage and low birefringence making it suitable for many optical applications such as optical lenses, optical fibers, prisms, light guides, optical adhesives, and optical films.
Abstract:
Curable thiol-ene compositions containing urethane (meth)acrylate oligomers that are readily polymerized to produce optical articles and coatings are described.
Abstract:
An optically transparent adhesive article for fastening the rear face of a display overlay to the front face of a display. The article includes first and second adhesive layers and an optional intervening backing layer. The first adhesive layer has sufficiently low tack so that the article is repositionable on the display of the display. The second adhesive layer has sufficient tack and the article has sufficient cohesive strength so that the article is stretch-releasable from the display overlay.
