Abstract: Disclosed herein are non-aqueous compositions including: a flowable Part A including at least one resin and Reactant A; and a flowable Part B including at least one resin and Reactant B; wherein at least one of flowable Part A and flowable Part B further includes a free radically polymerizable resin; wherein at least one of flowable Part A and flowable Part B further includes a free radical initiator system; wherein flowable Part A and flowable Part B are capable of being mixed to provide a flowable mixed composition; wherein when flowable Part A and flowable Part B are mixed, Reactant A and Reactant B are capable of interacting to cause a non-free radical reaction within a first staging time to provide a first staged stable consistency for the mixed composition; and wherein the mixed composition having the first staged stable consistency is capable of forming a hardened composition upon initiation of free radical polymerization.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a polymeric material including a polymerized reaction product of a polymerizable composition including components and an inorganic filler. The components include a uretdione-containing material including a reaction product of a diisocyanate reacted with itself; a first hydroxyl-containing compound; and an optional second hydroxyl-containing compound having a single OH group. The present disclosure also provides a two-part composition, in which the polymeric material is included in the first part and the second part includes at least one amine. Further, a method of adhering two substrates is provided, including obtaining a two-part composition; combining at least a portion of the first part with at least a portion of the second part to form a mixture; disposing at least a portion of the mixture on a first substrate; and contacting a second substrate with the mixture disposed on the first substrate. The disclosure also provides a polymerized product of the two-part composition and a battery module. Advantageously, two-part compositions can be used as coatings and adhesive systems including high loadings of inorganic filler, such as thermally conductive filler, with handling and performance similar to existing two-part urethane systems, but with less sensitivity to water.

The epoxy component is present in an amount of 35% by weight or greater, based on the total weight of the polymerizable composition. The first hydroxyl-containing compound has more than one OH group and the optional second hydroxyl-containing compound is a primary alcohol or a secondary alcohol. The present disclosure also provides a two-part composition, in which the polymeric material is included in the first part and the second part includes at least one amine. Further, a method of adhering two substrates is provided, including obtaining a two-part composition; combining at least a portion of the first part with at least a portion of the second part to form a mixture; disposing at least a portion of the mixture on a first substrate; and contacting a second substrate with the mixture disposed on the first substrate. The disclosure also provides a polymeric material and a method of making a two-part composition. Advantageously, two-part compositions can be used as coatings and adhesive systems with handling and performance similar to existing two-part urethane systems, but with less sensitivity to water, or with performance similar to toughened epoxy systems.

Abstract: A two-part curable composition is provided that includes a first part that includes an oxamido-containing compound and a second part that includes an epoxy resin. The oxamido-containing compound includes at least one first segment derived from a first polyamine and at least one second segment derived from a second polyamine that is different than the first polyamine. The oxamido-containing compound has at least two amino (-NH2) groups that can react with the epoxy resin in the second part of the curable composition. Each part of the curable composition is flowable, often at room temperature or slightly above room temperature, and can be mixed to form a cured composition having structural bonding performance.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a two-part composition polymeric material including a first part and a second part. The first part includes an inorganic filler and a polymeric material including a polymerized reaction product of a polymerizable composition including components. The components include a uretdione-containing material including a reaction product of a diisocyanate reacted with itself; a first hydroxyl-containing compound; and an optional second hydroxyl-containing compound having a single OH group. The second part includes a polythiol having an average sulfhydryl group functionality of 2 or greater. Further, a method of adhering two substrates is provided, including obtaining a two-part composition; combining at least a portion of the first part with at least a portion of the second part to form a mixture; disposing at least a portion of the mixture on a first substrate; and contacting a second substrate with the mixture disposed on the first substrate. The disclosure also provides a polymerized product of the two-part composition and a battery module. Abstract: A one-part thermally curable composition comprises at least one polyuretdione, thermally activatable amine curative; optional epoxy resin; optional polythiol having an average sulfhydryl group functionality of at least 2; and optional acid stabilizer. The at least one polyuretdione has an average uretdione ring functionality of at least 1.2, and is a reaction product of components comprising: a uretdione-containing material comprising a reaction product of a diisocyanate reacted with itself; a first hydroxyl-containing compound having a single OH group, wherein the first hydroxyl-containing compound is a primary alcohol or a secondary alcohol; and a second hydroxyl-containing compound having more than one OH group, wherein the second hydroxyl-containing compound is a polyol and the reaction product comprises 0.2 to 0.5, inclusive, of hydroxyl equivalents relative to isocyanate equivalents. Cured compositions and assemblies including them are also disclosed.
