Abstract:
The invention provides a modular termination module 11 for a telecommunication assembly 1 with a carrier 2 and a termination module 11, the termination module 11 comprises contacts for connecting telecommunication wires 10 therewith and a support 12 adapted to be connected to the carrier 2 of the telecommunication assembly 1. The support 12 further comprising at least one mechanical interface for engaging with different kinds of contact strips 17a, 17b carrying the contacts for connecting wires therewith, wherein the contact strips 17a, 17b differ in the kind of contacts they carry.
Abstract:
A telecommunications module (1) comprises at least one pair of contact elements (13, 15) each extending between opposed sides (7, 8) of the module and having contacts (9, 10) at each end to which connections can be made. Each contact element comprises first and second parts (17, 19), the first part being resiliently-biased into engagement with the second part at a disconnection point (21), and a separating member (23) is located between the disconnection points of the pair of contact elements. The separating member (23) is shaped to deflect a probe (29), inserted into the module from one of the opposed sides, towards the disconnection point of a selected one of the pair of contact elements to break the engagement between the first and second parts of that contact element.
Abstract:
A bundled wire guide is insertable within an interior portion of a carrier/telecommunication module assembly. The bundled wire guide includes at least one channel configured to receive and guide at least a first wire bundle such that the at least one channel extends from a back frame of the carrier to a hinge portion of the telecommunication module and individual wires of the first wire bundle are insertable in the telecommunication module. The bundled wire guide, when installed as part of the carrier, provides one or more closed wire channels that mechanically protect the wire bundles. In addition, the bundled wire guide provides a mechanism to install wires through the back frame of the carrier without having to open or pivot the carrier/module assembly.
Abstract:
The invention comprises a termination tool (1) for terminating electrical conductors (19) to an insulation displacement connector (IDC) block (11) comprising: at least one anchor portion (2) for fixing the termination tool to the IDC block; at least one body portion (3) pivotable between an open position and a closed position relative to the IDC block for urging at least one electrical conductor into an IDC element of the IDC block and an integral hinge (4) portion between the anchor portion and the body portion that enables the body portion to pivot between the open position and the closed position. The invention also comprises an insulation displacement connector (IDC) block (11) having the inventive termination tool secured thereto. The invention further comprises a method of electrically connecting an electrical conductor to an insulation displacement (IDC) block by using the inventive termination tool.
