Abstract: A composite panel includes a thermoplastic base and a basalt fiber-based composite layer attached to the thermoplastic base. The basalt fiber-based composite layer includes at least two sub-layers of basalt material with each sub-layer of basalt material being bonded to adjacent sub-layers of basalt material. The basalt fiber-based composite layer provides a protective fire barrier.
