Abstract:
Systems and methods for protecting motor lead from debris and fluid contamination. In one embodiment, detachable, flexible lead wires within an ESP motor are covered by protective sleeves that are sealed against the end connectors of the leads. The end connectors are coupled to corresponding terminals in an epoxy fixture of the motor and a motor head in a manner that provides a seal between them. The sealed sleeve and end connectors prevent debris and contaminants in the fluid within the motor from reaching the conductive elements of the motor leads, thereby preventing accumulations of debris and contaminants that could otherwise cause electrical faults.
Abstract:
A centrifugal pump (15) has a stationary diffuser (27) with a bore (33a, 33b, 33c. A thrust bearing 837) has a tubular portion that inserts into the bore. The thrust bearing (37) has an external shoulder (45) that contacts a support surface (47) in the bore (33b, 33c) of the diffuser (27) for transmitting downward thrust from an upstream impeller (29) to the diffuser (27) . The thrust bearing (37) has an internal shoulder (42) for transmitting upward thrust from a downstream impeller to the diffuser (27) .
Abstract:
A system for monitoring conditions associated with a pressure-equalizing bellows element within a seal section of an electric submersible pump assembly. Pressure sensors are associated with the seal section to detect differential pressure across the bellows element.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for electrically connecting conductors of a downhole electric system using connector bodies that includes an outer housing, one or more inner conductors and an inorganic insulating material such as a glass-ceramic material which forms a fluid-tight seal between the outer housing and the inner conductor. The insulating material may be bonded to the outer housing and to the inner conductor. The insulating material may alternatively have an interference fit with the outer housing and the inner conductor. The connector bodies may have standardized connector interfaces to facilitate connection to complementary standardized connector interfaces on cable-end connectors, etc. Connector bodies may be formed as motor heads, mandrels for cable splices, penetrators, etc.
