Die Erfindung betrifft thermoplastische Formmassen enthaltend A) 55bis 99 Gew.-% mindestens eines Polystyrols (PS), eines schlagzäh modifizierten Polystyrols (HIPS) odereiner Mischung aus PS und HIPS, B) 1 bis 45Gew.-% eines Flammschutzmittels enthaltend B1)einen expandierbaren Graphit, B2) eine Phosphor enthaltende Flammschutz-Verbindung und B3) ein fluorhaltiges Polymer, C) 0 bis 20 Gew.-% eines Blockcopolymeren auf Basis von Styrol und Butadien (SBC), und D) 0 bis 40 Gew.-% weiterer Zusatzstoffe, wobei die Gewichtsprozente jeweils auf das Gesamtgewicht der Komponenten A) bis D) bezogen sind und zusammen 100 Gew.-% ergeben, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der expandierbare Graphit B1) eine mittlere Teilchengröße D 50 zwischen 10 µm und 1000µm hat (gemessen nach der in der Beschreibung genannten Methode), und der Gewichtsanteil des fluorhaltigen Polymers B3) bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Komponenten A) bis D) von 0,01 bis 0,5 Gew.-%beträgt, sowie Verfahren zur Herstellung derartiger Formmassen, die Verwendung derartiger Formmassen zur Herstellung von Formkörpern, Fasern, Schäumen und Folien sowie die hierbei erhältlichen Formkörpern, Fasern, Schäume und Folien.
