Abstract:
A strain relief adapter (100) for a medicament delivery device (200), including: a flexible body (101) having a first end (102) configured to connect to one of a fluid connector and a pump connector, a second end (104) configured to connect to tubing, a hollow fluid path (108, 110, 112, 114) therethrough fluidly connecting the first and second ends, and a plurality of external strain relief ridges (106) disposed between the first and second ends.
Abstract:
A pen needle (30, 110) is disclosed for coupling to a delivery device (10) and piercing a septum on the delivery device. The pen needle includes a collar (32, 112) having a side wall (36, 116), an open proximal end (38), and a distal end (40, 118) having a coupling member (50). The pen needle also includes a needle hub (34, 114) having a proximal end (50, 124) and a distal end (58, 126), where the proximal end of the needle hub has a coupling member coupled to the distal end of the collar. The needle hub rotates independently of the collar. A needle (52) extends from the distal end of the needle hub, and a projection (76, 126) extends from the proximal end of the needle hub for piercing a septum (106) of a delivery device. The collar (32, 112) rotates independently from the needle hub (34, 114) so that the collar screws onto the threaded end of the delivery device while the needle hub does not rotate and the projection advances to pierce the septum (106) without rotating.
Abstract:
A package for a multi-component medical device is disclosed. The package includes a bottom portion (200, 250, 270) with cavities (204, 206, 208) providing individual access to different components (124 (128, 132, 130), 148, 144) of the medical device, thereby enabling a user to remove components from the package in any order without disturbing the remaining component or components. The package also includes a barrier affixed to the bottom portion for sealing the package.
Abstract:
An infusion set system, including a base and a fluid connector removably coupleable thereto is disclosed. The fluid connector includes a fluid path portion and at least one connector latch displaceably connected to the fluid path portion and displaceable to a latching position in which at least a portion of the connector latch extends into the fluid path portion, which includes a cannula extending from a top interior surface thereof, and a plurality of internal sidewalls corresponding to at least two of a plurality of flat side surfaces of at least one of a base section and a base latch, thereby facilitating connection between the base and the fluid connector in a plurality of discrete rotational connecting positions. When the fluid connector is locked to the base, the at least one connector latch engages a base latching portion of the base and restricts proximal displacement of the fluid connector.
Abstract:
A needle assembly includes a needle and a needle shield device. The needle shield device includes an inner shield connectable to at least one a base and a fluid connector connectable to the base, and an outer shield fixedly connected to the opposing end the needle and displaceable relative to the inner shield between a first position, in which the sharpened end of the needle is exposed outside the inner shield, and a second position, in which the sharpened end of the needle is shielded by the inner shield. Interaction between portions of the inner and outer shields during or after proximal displacement of the outer shield from the first position to the second position automatically releases or permits release of the inner shield from connection to the at least one of the base and the fluid connector.
Abstract:
An infusion system having an integrated inserter and infusion set (10) for containing and placing a flexible catheter (40), and a retractable introducer needle (26), wherein the catheter (40) is isolated from movement after placement. The integrated inserter and infusion set (10) includes a hub (20), having a user push button (30) to activate the device for catheter (40) placement. An adhesive liner (34) can be provided to cover an adhesive layer (36), such as pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA), on the bottom of the device (10).
Abstract:
A pen needle assembly includes an adapter (32, 122, 190, 254, 312) and a needle hub (134, 124, 192, 256, 314) coupled to the adapter. The needle hub is removable from the adapter. The adapter has a distal end for coupling with a pen needle delivery device and a distal end with at least one coupling member for coupling with the needle hub. The needle hub is a distal face forming a skin contact surface and a cannula extending from the distal face. The proximal end of the needle hub includes a coupling member for removably coupling with the coupling member of the adapter.
Abstract:
A container (10) for storing new and used pen needles (20,30), the container (10) comprising a housing (12) including a first compartment (50) configured to store one or more new pen needles (20), and a second compartment (52) configured to store one or more used pen needles (30), wherein the first and second compartments (50,52) are inversely adjustable in size to accommodate various combinations of new and used pen needles (20, 30).
Abstract:
A catheter for use in medical applications is disclosed. The catheter comprises tubing with a tip hole at one end and an end portion at the other end. Fluid exits the catheter at the tip hole thereof. One or more alternative fluid pathway(s) are provided on the sidewall of the catheter to permit outflow of fluid medication from the catheter to ensure proper delivery of the medication to the intended target area, particularly when the tip opening is occluded or restricted for any reason.
Abstract:
An insulin infusion set (30) for use with an inserter (40) is disclosed. The infusion set (30) includes an extension set (50). The extension set (50) includes a housing (70), a base (90) and a latching device (82). The base (90) houses a base septum (120) and an infusion cannula (42). The latching device (82) releasably attaches the housing (70) to the base. When the housing (70) is attached to the base (90), a part of the housing (70) extends into and opens the base septum (120).
