Abstract: C-Raf inhibitors, especially oxindole derivatives such as 5-lodo-3-[(3,5­dibromo-4-hydroxyphenyl) methylene]-2-indolinone, are used for the prevention or inhibition of neuronal cell death in a mammal suffering from or susceptible to neurodegenerative disease, cerebral ischaemia, traumatic neuronal injury, epilepsy-associated neuronal loss, paralysis, or spinal cord injury. C-Raf inhibitors are included in the manufacture of compositions for the treatment of neurodegenerative disease, cerebral ischaemia, traumatic neuronal injury, epilepsy-associated neuronal loss, paralysis, or spinal cord injury.
