Abstract:
A variable geometry turbine turbocharger (1) includes a gear driven adjustment ring actuator mechanism (300) supported within a housing (16) via a resilient mount (70) disposed between the mechanism (300) and housing (16). The gear driven adjustment ring actuator mechanism (300) rotates an adjustment ring (350), which in turn adjusts the position of the vanes (30) of the variable geometry turbine (2). The resilient mount (70) accommodates the heat-related expansion and contraction of the gear driven adjustment ring actuator mechanism (300).
Abstract:
Variable geometry turbine turbochargers with rotating guide vane members and spacer members. The spacer members are positioned in the space on the guide ring members between the ring of guide vane members and the turbine wheel.
Abstract:
A variable turbine geometry assembly (200) is provided for controlling flow of exhaust gas to a turbine wheel (110) of a turbocharger (100). The variable turbine geometry assembly (200) includes a base structure (204), vanes (202), vane levers (208), and an adjustment ring (210). The vanes (202) are distributed circumferentially around the base structure (204) and are pivotable relative to the base structure (204) to vary an effective inlet area. The vane levers (208) are for pivoting the vanes (202). The vane levers (208) each include an inner portion (218) coupled to one of the vanes (202) and an outer portion (220) extending from the inner portion (218). The adjustment ring (210) is selectively rotatable about a central axis to pivot the vanes (202). The adjustment ring (210) includes apertures (222) that are each associated with and have received therein the outer portion (220) of one of the vane levers (208). The outer portion (220) of each of the vane levers (208) includes an outer surface (220c) that is non-parallel with the central axis.
