Abstract: The present application is concerned with a drive unit arranged for converting a rotational motion into a linear reciprocating motion in operation that has a motor having a motor shaft arranged for providing a rotational motion of the motor shaft around a longitudinal axis of the motor shaft in operation, a motor shaft extension comprising at least a first eccentric shaft element that is arranged eccentrically with respect to the longitudinal axis of the motor shaft so that in operation the first eccentric shaft element moves on a circle around the longitudinal axis of the motor shaft, the circle extending in a plane being perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, at least one elastically deformable unit having a coupling element arranged for coupling with a driven element, wherein the first eccentric shaft element is coupled with the deformable unit to periodically deform the deformable unit so that a longitudinal position in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the motor shaft of the coupling element of the deformable unit periodically changes, and wherein the deformable unit has a first arm section having a first end and a second end and a second arm section having a first end and a second end, wherein the second end of the first arm section and the first end of the second arm section are connected with each other, wherein the first end of the first arm section is connected with a mounting structure that is fixed relative to the motor and the second end of the second arm section is arranged with a distance to the first end of the first arm section in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the motor shaft.

Abstract: An electric toothbrush having bristle driven pulsation includes a brush head having a bristle holder and bristle tufts attached to the bristle holder. The bristle tufts and corresponding bristles are disposed at a perpendicular and/or a non-perpendicular angle with respect to a mounting surface of the brush head. The electric toothbrush also includes an electric toothbrush handle removably attached to the brush head. The electric toothbrush handle includes a linear motor configured to drive the bristle holder via a gearing structure coupled to the linear motor and the bristle holder. The linear motor causes the bristle holder to rotate clockwise and counterclockwise at a rotation frequency which exceeds a rotation frequency threshold (e.g., 100 Hz, 120 Hz, etc.). The linear motor also causes the brush head to vibrate in a direction toward and away from a contact surface in synchronization with the rotation of the bristles.

Abstract: The present disclosure is concerned with a toothbrush head or a brush carrier having at least one carrier element, at least one shape-shifting tuft mounted on the carrier element such that the shape-shifting tuft raises from a mounting end on a mounting surface of the carrier element generally along an extension direction towards a free end of the shape-shifting tuft, the shape-shifting tuft having a length from the mounting base to the free end, the shape-shifting tuft comprising a plurality of fibers, and the shape-shifting tuft having a first cross-section having a first cross sectional area and shape at a first length along the extension direction, and a second cross-section having a second cross-sectional area and shape at a second length along the extension direction, wherein the first cross-sectional area and the second cross-sectional area are substantially identical and the first cross-sectional shape and the second cross-sectional shape are different so that the first cross-sectional shape does not match the second cross-sectional shape independent from an angle by which the first cross-sectional shape is rotated and independent from a displacement of the first cross-sectional shape.

Abstract: The present disclosure is concerned with a brush head (1) for an oral care implement. The brush head (1) comprises at least one (first) group of tufts (5, 6, 7) extending from a mounting surface (4) of a tuft carrier (3) having a rotation axis (I). The tufts having a base end extending from the mounting surface and a free end. The tufts (5) of the first group are tufts having, in the plane of the mounting surface, an extension in a circumferential direction about the rotation axis (I) which exceeds an extension in a radial direction with respect to the rotation axis (I). The tufts (5) of the first group may be inclined with respect to the mounting surface (4) in at least one direction. Further, each of the tufts (5) of the first group may comprise a first group of filaments (5a) and a second group of filaments (5b) with the free ends of the filaments (5b) of the second group of filaments protruding beyond the free ends of the filaments (5a) of the first group of filaments.
