Abstract:
A smoking article filter (20) comprises a recess (25) to receive a filter insert unit (30). The filter insert unit (30) is secured to the filter (20) once inserted. The filter (20) and the filter insert unit (30) may comprise additives such as flavourants, colourants or sorbents.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the inclusion of additives in a filter element comprising a non-woven sheet material or paper as the filter material to increase the selective removal of semi-volatile compounds and to improve the taste characteristics of the smoke drawn through the filter element. The increased selective removal of semi-volatile compounds from the smoke being drawn through the filter element is provided by polyethylene glycol. TEC and/or triacetin are additives which have been found to improve the taste characteristics of smoke drawn through the filter element.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to filter material for inclusion in a smoking article, wherein the filter material comprises fibres comprising cellulose acetate and polyethylene oxide. The invention also relates to processes for preparing filter material for inclusion in a smoking article, the filter material comprising fibres which comprise cellulose acetate and polyethylene oxide, the process comprising electrospinning or centrifugal spinning of a solution comprising cellulose acetate and polyethylene oxide or melt spinning a mixture comprising cellulose acetate and polyethylene oxide. The invention further relates to filters or filter elements comprising the filter material, smoking articles comprising the same, and use of the filter material in smoke filtration.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of producing a filter element for inclusion in a smoking article, the method comprising applying an additive to filter material, the additive being solid at room temperature and the method involving heating the additive so that it melts.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to improvements in filters for use in smoking articles such as cigarettes, cigars and cigarillos. The improvements, particularly but not exclusively, relate to filter capabilities and to the manufacture of such filters. In one example, a filter for a smoking article comprises a first fibrous filter material having an average fibre denier in the range 7 to 9 and a second fibrous filter material having an average fibre denier of below 7. The application also describes a filter for a smoking article comprising various other filter arrangements including absorbent and/or adsorbent materials.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to improvements in filters for use in smoking articles such as cigarettes, cigars and cigarillos. The improvements, particularly but not exclusively, relate to filter capabilities and to the manufacture of such filters. In one example, there is provided a filter for a smoking article comprising randomly oriented short length fibres and a flavour release component. The application also describes a filter for a smoking article comprising various other filter arrangements including absorbent and/or adsorbent materials.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to filter material for inclusion in a smoking article, wherein the filter material is in the form of a fibrous tow or a non-woven sheet comprising fine cellulose acetate fibres having a mean diameter of from about 1 μm to about 15 um. The invention also relates to processes for preparing filter material for inclusion in a smoking article, the filter material comprising fine cellulose acetate fibres having a mean diameter of from about 1 μm to about 15 μm. The invention further relates to filters or filter elements comprising the filter material, smoking articles comprising the same, and use of the filter material in smoke filtration.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to improvements in filters for use in smoking articles such as cigarettes, cigars and cigarillos. The improvements, particularly but not exclusively, relate to filter capabilities and to the manufacture of such filters. In some examples, a filter for a smoking article is described having randomly orientated short-length fibres formed into a shape other than a cylinder or formed into a cylinder having a circumference smaller than 16mm or a circumference greater than 25mm. The application also describes a filter for a smoking article comprising various other filter arrangements including absorbent and/or adsorbent materials.
Abstract:
Inhalation Device and an Inhalant Apparatus An inhalation device to hold an inhalant-generating component to generate an inhalant to be drawn through the device and inhaled by a user. The device has a body having a first open end configured to receive an inhalant-generating component and, a second open end in fluid communication with the first end through which a user may draw inhalant from the inhalant-generating component. The body is configured to receive a flavour delivery component having an organoleptic material to selectively allow or prevent addition of an organoleptic additive into an inhalant stream drawn through the device. The device includes a ventilation control mechanism configured to selectively allow different amounts of ambient air into the body to mix with and dilute the inhalant stream as it is drawn through the device in use.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to improvements in filters for use in smoking articles such as cigarettes, cigars and cigarillos. The improvements, particularly but not exclusively, relate to filter capabilities and to the manufacture of such filters. In one example, a filter for a smoking article comprises randomly oriented discrete short length fibres of absorbent having adsorbent particles dispersed therein. The invention also provides a filter for a smoking article comprising various other filter arrangements including absorbent and/or adsorbent materials.
