Abstract:
A web of tipping paper (20) for supplying a smoking article manufacturing machine (17) which cuts the web into individual patches and wraps each patch about a respective dual length filter rod (1) to attach rods of smokable material (4) to the ends of each dual length filter rod is disclosed. A first lateral portion (25a) of the tipping paper web comprises a first longitudinal series of first indicators (26), and a second lateral portion (25b) of the tipping paper web comprises a second longitudinal series of indicators (27), the first and second indicators being different to each other so that a first indicator is indicative of a first type of smoking article and a second indicator is indicative of a second type of smoking article which is different to the first type of smoking article, wherein the tipping paper web is configured to be loaded onto a smoking article manufacturing machine so that the machine wraps a first part of a patch of tipping paper which is formed from the first lateral portion of the tipping paper web around a first portion of the dual length filter rod in the formation of a smoking article of the first type and so that a first indicator on the first part of the patch denotes that said first portion of the dual length filter rod is a part of a smoking article of the first type and, so that the machine wraps a second part of the patch which is formed from the second lateral portion of the tipping paper web around a second portion of the dual length filter rod in the formation of a smoking article of the second type and so that a second indicator on the second part of the patch denotes that said second portion of the dual length filter rod is a part of a smoking article of the second type, prior to cutting the dual length filter rod and the patch into a first filter rod segment that is wrapped in said first part of the patch and which forms, together with the rod of smokable material attached thereto, a smoking article of the first type, and into a second filter rod segment that is wrapped in said second part of the patch and which forms, together with the rod of smokable attached thereto, a smoking article of the second type.
Abstract:
Abstract:
There is provided an aerosol-generating article (10) comprising an aerosol-generating substrate (12) and a mouthpiece (14) secured to a downstream end of the aerosol-generating substrate (12). The mouthpiece (14) comprises at least one segment of filter material (18) and a liquid delivery element (22). The liquid delivery element (22) comprises an upstream end and a downstream end, a cavity (28) containing a liquid, and at least one channel (26) extending between the upstream end and the downstream end of the liquid delivery element (22). The liquid delivery element (22) is arranged to deliver the liquid to the at least one segment of filter material (18) when activated by a consumer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a smoking article (120) comprising a smoking article rod portion (2) having a recess (13) and a mouthpiece (110) arranged to be attached to the smoking article. The mouthpiece comprises an elongate cylindrical element (20) having adjacent first and second portions each extending partially along the length of the cylindrical element, the first portion being arranged to be inserted into a smoking article recess by a user. The mouthpiece also comprises an annular element (111) arranged around the second portion of the cylindrical element, the annular element having a larger external diameter than the cylindrical element such that the annular element is larger than the diameter of the recess.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a smoking article (1) comprising a smoking article rod portion (2) having a recess (13) and a mouthpiece (81, 91, 101) attachable to the smoking article rod portion. The mouthpiece includes an elongate cylindrical element (20) arranged to be inserted into the recess by a user. The cylindrical element comprises an outer surface having at least one circumferentially extending raised area (83, 103), and the at least one circumferentially extending raised area is configured to engage with an inner surface of the recess to prevent or restrict air flow between the inner surface of the recess and an outer surface of the mouthpiece.
Abstract:
Disclosed are fibers which contain identification fibers. The identification fibers can comprise one or more chemical markers, or taggants, which may vary among the fibers or be incorporated throughout all of the fibers. The disclosure also relates to the method for making and characterizing the fibers. Characterization of the fibers can include identifying chemical markers and correlating the chemical markers and a taggant chemical marker amounts of at least one of the chemical markers to manufacturer-specific taggants to determine supply chain information. The supply chain information can be used to track the fibers from manufacturing through intermediaries, conversion to final product, and/or the consumer.
Abstract:
Disclosed are fibers comprising one or more branded fibers which exhibit surface markings in a repeated pattern along the length of the branded fibers. The branded fibers can be incorporated into yarns or fiber bands to represent supply chain information of the yarns, fiber bands, and/or articles made from the yards or fiber bands. In a specific example, branded fibers can be incorporated into an acetate tow band. The branded fibers can be recovered from a cigarette filter, the repeated pattern decoded, and supply chain information associated with the acetate tow used to make the cigarette filter, such as manufacturer, customer, ship-to location, and even the acetate tow bale, can be obtained.
