    Abstract: Systems and methods for evaluating the corrosion risk in operations with equipment for the handling an acid gas- containing solutes, e.g., an amine unit for the removal of acid gases such as H 2 S, CO 2 , etc., are provided. Input parameter values corresponding to geometrical parameters of at least an equipment (or a portion of an equipment) susceptible to corrosion risk, operating parameters, fluid dynamic properties, and properties of the solute are received by the system. Based on the input values, the systems and methods derive a minimum pressure above which acid gas flashing occurs given the localized pressure drop, causing corrosion in the identified location. In one embodiment, the systems and methods provide an assessment correlating acid gas loadings with the corrosion risk.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method to predict evolution of the distribution of droplets injected into a fluid in a process pipe; and model the scrubbing of fluids that contains contaminant gases with aqueous scrubbing agents. The method is implemented using processor that: receives information corresponding to a process fluid and a piping infrastructure in which the process fluid flows; receives information corresponding to an injectant and an injector that injects the injectant into the process fluid; and predicts a droplet size distribution as a function of time. The model computes the scrubbing rate as a function of time, correlating with the concentration of the contaminants to be scrubbed, providing a prediction of the contaminant concentration at any given distance from the injector. The prediction is based at least in part on computation of one or more closed-form expressions that describes the droplet interaction processes as well as the scrubbing rate.
