Abstract:
The present invention relates to recovery of hydrocarbons being released subsea in an uncontrolled manner. More specifically, the invention relates to an apparatus, process and system for the recovery of well stream products being released subsea in an uncontrolled manner, optionally under conditions that are conducive to the formation of gas hydrate crystals.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an ice worthy jack up rig that may extend the drilling season in shallow water off shore Arctic or ice prone locations. The inventive rig would work like a conventional jack up rig while in open water with the hull jacked up out of the water. However, in the event of ice conditions, the legs are held in place by cans embedded in the sea floor to resist lateral movement of the rig and the hull is lowered into the water into an ice defensive configuration. The hull is specifically shaped with an ice bending surface to bend and break up ice that comes in contact with the hull while in the ice defensive configuration.
Abstract:
A composition for a plug for wellbores undergoing plugging and abandonment operations is described. Methods of setting the plug are also described.
Abstract:
Systems and methods contain fluids discharged from a subsea well or at the surface by capping the well blowout with a pre-positioned capping device. The capping device includes at least one blind shear ram and is separate from a blowout preventer. The blowout preventer may operate to control well events up to a certain pressure, above which the capping device is employed since the capping device has a higher pressure rating than the blowout preventer.

Abstract:
A method of plugging a hydrocarbon well includes deploying a downhole tool to remove at least a portion of a casing at a section of well to be plugged. Deploying a blocking device downhole to block a bottom of the section of well to be plugged. Deploying a plugging material downhole onto the blocking device to fill an area to be plugged. Deploying an exothermic fluid downhole, wherein activation of the exothermic material liquefies the plugging material. Allowing the plugging material and the exothermic fluid to solidify form a cast-in-place plug that fills the section of well to be plugged.
