Abstract:
A connection between a fluid filter and a head is described that permits quick connection/disconnection between the two without requiring disconnection of fluid lines from the head. The head includes a lock to connect inlet and outlet fluid lines to a fluid filter using a non-threaded attachment method. The lock that retains the head to the fluid filter is flexible to allow for connection and disconnection. The head has fluid inlet and outlet ports to which fluid lines attach to flow unfiltered fluid into and filtered fluid out of the fluid filter when the head is connected to the fluid filter. The head closes the fluid filter, which has a protrusion with adjacent passageways that guide and separate unfiltered from filtered fluid.

A filter monitor system ("FMS") module is installed on the engine/vehicle and is connected to the filter systems, sensors and devices to monitor various performance parameters. The module also connects to the engine control module ("ECM") and draws parameters from the ECM. The FMS module is capable of interfacing with various output devices such as a smartphone application, a display monitor, an OEM telematics system or a service technician's tool on a computer. The FMS module consists of hardware and software algorithms which constantly monitor filter systems and provide information to the end-user. FMS module provides necessary inputs and outputs for electronic sensors and devices.
Abstract:
A water detection system in a fuel delivery system of an engine that helps to limit the occurrence of water related corrosion or damage to various engine components by detecting if a fuel supply has a high level of water content, and providing a notice that appropriate action should be taken. The system includes a fuel filtration module, a water sensor to sense high water content of a fuel supply, and a control device connected to the water sensor and receiving inputs therefrom relating to the water sensed by the sensor. The system also includes an indication source connected to the control device for communicating that a problem with the fuel exists if high water content is detected.
