摘要:
A printing blanket (15) adapted to be used with a magnetic printing cylinder (12) including a gap (16) extending longitudinally along the outer surface thereof is provided. The printing blanket (15) includes a plurality of piles (14) with a magnetic backing ply (20) which is magnetically adhered to the printing cylinder (12). The printing blanket (15) is positioned on the printing cylinder (12) such that an end (22) of the printing blanket (15) is bent over an edge (11) and inwardly into the gap (16). The opposite end (24) of the printing blanket (15) is mounted substantially adjacent the opposite edge of the gap (16). The tensioning roll (150) or similar device to which the printing blanket (15) may be attached can be disposed in the gap (16) to secure the printing blanket (15) to the printing cylinder (12) more firmly.
摘要:
A printing blanket (11) which resists gauge loss throughout its useful life when subjected to printing nip pressures by retaining at least 95 % of its original gauge throughout the useful life of the printing blanket. The printing blanket includes at least a printing surface layer (18) and at least one reinforcing woven fabric ply (12, 14, 17) and may also include a compressible layer (15). At least one, and preferably all, of the reinforcing woven fabric plies in the blanket construction are treated or fabricated to resist permanent deformation when subjected to printing nip pressures.
摘要:
A printing blanket construction and method for reducing corrosion of printing blanket cylinders is provided. The printing blanket (11) comprises at least one base ply (12, 13) and a surface layer (10) on one surface of the base ply wherein the opposite surface of the base ply (12) is adapted to contact the blanket cylinder. The printing blanket includes a metal or alloy having a greater negative electrochemical potential in the electromotive series than the metal comprising the surface of the blanket cylinder. The preferred metal for use may be selected from the group consisting of zinc, magnesium, cadmium or aluminum. The metal may be introduced onto the opposite surface of the base ply (12) in the form of a metal sheet, by coating, or in particle form through the use of a coating. After introduction of the metal, the opposite surface of the base ply is preferably ground to produce a smooth, nontextured surface.
