Abstract: A process to form a composition comprising an ethylene/vinylarene multiblock interpolymer, said process comprising polymerizing, in a single reactor, a mixture comprising ethylene, a vinylarene, and optionally an alpha-olefin, in the presence of at least the following a)-c): a) a first metal complex selected from the following Formula (A), as described herein: b) a second metal complex selected from the following Formula (B), as described herein, and c) a chain shuttling agent selected from the following: a dialkyl zinc, a trialkyl aluminum, or a combination thereof. A composition comprising an ethylene/vinylarene multiblock interpolymer comprising at least one polymer structure selected from: -(AR)-(AP)-(AR)-(AP)- (Structure 1), or (AR)-(AP)-(AR)-(AP) (Structure 2); where each (AR) segment independently comprises, in polymerized form, ethylene, > 10 mol% of the vinylarene and optionally an alpha-olefin, and wherein each (AP) segment independently comprises, ethylene, optionally ≤ 10 mol% vinylarene and optionally the alpha-olefin.

Abstract: A solution polymerization process for producing ethylene-based polymer includes introducing ethylene monomer, hydrocarbon solvent, and Ziegler-Natta catalyst into an entrance of a solution polymerization reactor. An ethylene-based polymer is produced by solution polymerizing the ethylene monomer in hydrocarbon solvent. Subsequently, a catalyst deactivator is introduced into the exit of the solution polymerization reactor, thereby producing hydrochloric acid byproduct. The catalyst deactivator includes long chain carboxylate and at least one cation selected from Groups 1, 2, and 12 of the IUPAC periodic table, with the exception of calcium. The catalyst deactivator reduces the effectiveness of the Ziegler-Natta catalyst and neutralizes the hydrochloric acid by forming a chloride salt other than calcium chloride.

Abstract: The present invention is a method of making 1,4,5,8-tetrakis(R-phenylamino)anthracene-9,10-dione (where R is H or a hydrocarbyl group) comprising the step of contacting 1,4,5,8-tetrachloroanthraquinone with a mixture of R-anilines comprising at least two different R groups, under conditions to produce 1,4,5,8-tetrakis(R-phenylamino)anthracene-9,10-dione. The present disclosure also provides a reaction mixture of 1,4,5,8-tetrakis(R-phenylamino)anthracene-9,10-dione characterized by having the R groups on at least 75% of the 1,4,5,8-tetrakis(R-amino)anthracene-9,10-dione molecules in the mixture becomprised of 2 or more different R groups. The present disclosure also provides a method of improving the solubility of 1,4,5,8-tetrakis(R-phenylamino)anthracene-9,10-dione in aromatic hydrocarbons distilled from crude oil, comprising selecting a mixture of 1,4,5,8-tetrakis(R-phenylamino)anthracene-9,10-diones which are characterized by having at least 75% of the 1,4,5,8-tetrakis(R-phenylamino)anthracene-9,10-dione molecules in the mixture comprise two or more different R groups. The compounds of the present invention exhibit a suitable UV visible absorbance profile making them suitable for use as a fuel marker.
