An electrode assembly (70) for a circuit breaker (10) is provided. The electrode assembly (70) includes a conductive assembly (90) and a heat transfer assembly (200). The conductive assembly (90) includes a stem portion (92) and a contact portion (94). The heat transfer assembly (200) includes a number of elongated bodies (202), a first heat transfer surface (204), and a second heat transfer surface (206). The first heat transfer surface (204) is disposed on the conductive assembly (90). Each heat transfer assembly body (202) includes a second heat transfer surface (206). Each heat transfer assembly body (202) is coupled to the conductive assembly (90) with the first heat transfer surface (204) coupled to a number of second heat transfer surfaces (206).
Abstract:
A hybrid switch assembly (50,150,250,350) is provided for a vacuum switch, such as for example a vacuum interrupter (2). The vacuum interrupter (2) includes a vacuum envelope (4), a fixed contact assembly (6) partially within the vacuum envelope (4), and a movable contact assembly (8) partially within the vacuum envelope (4) and movable between a closed position in electrical contact with the fixed contact assembly (6) and an open position spaced apart from the fixed contact assembly (6). The hybrid switch assembly (50) includes at least one radial magnetic field generating mechanism, such as for example a spiral contact (52,53; 152,153; 252,253) or cup member (352,353), and a number of axial magnetic field generating mechanisms each comprising a ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic member such as for example, a horseshoe plate assembly (54,56; 154,156; 252,254; 352,354). Each axial magnetic field generating mechanism (54,56; 154,156; 252,254; 352,354) is disposed within the vacuum envelope (4) proximate a corresponding radial magnetic field generating mechanism (52;53; 152,153; 252,253; 352,353).

An electrode assembly (100,200,300) is provided for a vacuum switch (2,2?), including a vacuum envelope (4,4'), a fixed contact assembly (6,6') including a fixed contact (8,8') disposed within the vacuum envelope (4,4'), and a movable contact assembly (10,10') including a movable contact (12,12') disposed within the vacuum envelope (4,4') and movable between a closed position in electrical contact with the fixed contact (8,8') and an open position spaced apart from the fixed contact (8,8'). The electrode assembly (100,200,300) includes at least one electrode bundle (102,104; 202,204; 302) having a plurality of electrodes (106,108; 206,208; 306) coupled to a corresponding one of the fixed contact assembly (6,6') and the movable contact assembly (10,10'). The electrodes (106,108; 206,208; 306) extend from at or about a corresponding one of the fixed contact (8,8') and the movable contact (12,12') toward the closer of the first end (14,14') of the vacuum envelope (4,4') and the second end (16,16') of the vacuum envelope (4,4').
