Abstract: A method for the preparation of a composite material comprising at least silicon nanowires and zinc, said method comprising the use of a zinc (II) halide, preferably zinc (II) chloride, as a metallic seed precursor, and a growth support. The method is cheap and robust, it proceeds at moderate temperature and allows control of silicon nanowires diameter.
