Abstract:
A watch (1), instrument panel and the like includes a face (6) with a UV-reactive jewel and, optionally, other indicia. A UV-LED (4) is provided in the watch (1) or is directed at the instrument to illuminate the jewel (2). The jewel (2) then disperses the radiation from the UV-LED toward the other indicia.
Abstract:
A watch or other illuminated device is formed with a case, a crystal and a watch face which is at least partially disposed at an angle with respect to the watch crystal. The watch face bears indicia including numerals and/or designs and logos that are selectively illuminated by a radiation source disposed at or in a lateral wall of the watch case and oriented to emit radiation for illuminating the indicia. The radiation source may be a UV LED in which case the indicia include a UV reactive material that renders the indicia visible in the presence of UV radiation.
Abstract:
A UV-LED is incorporated into a variety of different illumination and radiation devices suitable for illuminating indicia associated with a CD/CDRW/DVD storage medium, gauges, promotional displays, knobs or buttons for automotive or electronic devices, as well as ornaments and air purification by decomposition. The indicia are made of a material responsive to UV emissions to render the indicia visible. The devices may be used in motor vehicles, commercial promotions and displays, electronic devices with the UV-LED's oriented to direct the UV emissions toward the indicia and even positioned in a manner for air purification. Embodiments are presented for UV-LED's from above, the side, and underneath said embodiments of the invention.
