Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a device, such as a watch or a clock, comprising one or more hands having a back surface facing a dial, wherein the back surface is provided with a luminescent material.
Abstract:
A watch (1), instrument panel and the like includes a face (6) with a UV-reactive jewel and, optionally, other indicia. A UV-LED (4) is provided in the watch (1) or is directed at the instrument to illuminate the jewel (2). The jewel (2) then disperses the radiation from the UV-LED toward the other indicia.
Abstract:
An illumining device illumining a whole indicator brightly, using a light emitting element that emits rays of light in an ultraviolet ray region, and an electronic apparatus using the illumining apparatus. The illumining device comprises a light emitting element (17) disposed within a case (14) for emitting rays of light in an ultraviolet ray region, optically transparent sealing resin (18) with which the case is filled so as to cover the light emitting element, and a luminous material (19, 22) mixed into the sealing resin for reacting to the rays of light in the ultraviolet ray region to thereby emit rays of light in a visible ray region. The rays of light in the ultraviolet ray region emitted by the light emitting element pass through the sealing resin and then exits from the illumining device. Furthermore, they illumines the luminous material mixed into the sealing resin to cause the same to emit rays of light in the visible ray region.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a display device for a wristwatch comprising a luminescent surface (29) for illuminating the background of a display element (22) consisting of one or more alphanumeric characters. The display device comprises a window (5) in an opaque watch face (1) in which these characters can be displayed. The luminescent surface (29) covers at least one partial area of a supporting surface (19) situated behind said window (5). The alphanumeric characters of the display element (22) have an opaque material and are located between the watch face (1) and the luminescent surface (29).
Abstract:
In various implementations, a personal article or a portion thereof may be able to change colors. The personal article may transmit a first range of wavelengths of light and upon activation transmit a second range of wavelengths of light different from the first range of wavelengths of light.
Abstract:
An electronic device comprising a secondary display made up of a plurality of display segments each of which is made up of a multilayered assembly comprising a transparent substrate having a first and a second surface transparent electrically conductive layer formed on the second surface of the transparent substrate; an electroluminescent layer formed on the transparent conductive layer; an insulating layer formed on the electroluminescent layer; and an electrically conductive layer formed on the insulating layer; and including means for selectively illuminating electroluminescent layers of each of the plurality of display segments, wherein light emanating from the illuminated electroluminescent layers during an illuminated condition passes through the transparent substrate; whereby secondary information is provided by the selected illumination of the electroluminescent layers.
Abstract:
A timepiece (10) having an analog movement has at least one mechanical hand (12, 50) that is adapted to rotate over a back plane (11) of the timepiece for indicating elapsed time. Markers (52) formed by organic light emitting material are deposited on the hands. Similar markers (13, 14) may also be deposited also on the back plane of the timepiece at predetermined angular locations. Connectors facilitate coupling of an electrical power source to respective anodes and cathodes of the markers so as to cause the markers to glow.
Abstract:
With a dial for a timepiece comprising a decoration member 21 having a plurality of through holes 22 formed vertically on a luminescent member 10, the cross-sectional area of lower-side holes 24 of the decoration member 21 is formed to be larger than that of upper-side holes 23. Therefore, even if a substrate is thick, the diameter of the upper-side holes 23 of the through holes 22 can be formed to be small sufficiently. Moreover, compared to a dial size 20 for a timepiece wherein the decoration member 21 is placed on the luminescent member 10, the diameter of the through holes 22 of the decoration member 21 is small. Thus, it is possible to take in enough light from the luminescent member 10 through the lower-side holes 24 to ensure the sufficient amount of light through the through holes 22. It is possible to obtain sufficient illuminance for the dial.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a timepiece (10) comprising external parts (8) in which is arranged a movement (32). According to the invention, at least one of the movement (32) or the external parts (8) comprises a timepiece- component (14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 0, 52, 54) which body is entirely made of a photoluminescent material permitting the timepiece to enhance its legibility and/or visibility without any further luminous coating.
