Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable storage medium storing processor executable instructions for evaluating the quality of a sample card comprising a biological sample. A method of evaluating the quality of a sample card comprising a biological sample and/or an image of the sample card: determining a location of a serum zone in the sample card at least in part by analyzing the image of the sample card using at least one image processing technique; determining at least one characteristic of the serum zone based on the identified location of the serum zone; and determining a measure of quality of the sample card and/or the image of the sample card based on the at least one characteristic of the serum zone.
