An apparatus (1) and process for storing protective panels (3), which can be used in particular in board sawing systems (18). The apparatus (1) comprises a conveyor element (2) for carrying the panel (3) from the system (18) to a feed station (4). Handling means (5) grip the protective panel (3) and move it towards a supporting part (6), resting it on a supporting wall (12) of the supporting part (6), extending in a plane substantially transversal to the floor. The handling means (5) then pick up the protective panel (3) located on the supporting part (6) and place it on the conveyor element (2), supplying the protective panel (3) to the system (18). Advantageously, the supporting part (6) may have a first and a second supporting wall (12, 15) located opposite one another, and may turn so that the supporting walls (12, 15) face the handling means (5).
