    Abstract: A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions stored thereon. When executed by at least one processor, the instructions ban be configured to cause a computing device to, in response to an instruction to transition from a first refresh rate to a second refresh rate, modify a transitional frame. The modifying the transitional frame can include refreshing a first row in a display with a first adjustment to a peak signal of at least one pixel in the first row, and refreshing a second row in the display with a second adjustment to a peak signal of at least one pixel in the second row, the second row being refreshed after the second row, the second adjustment being greater than the first adjustment.

    Abstract: A computing device includes a display panel having a first end and a second end, a sensor, and a processing circuitry. Tire display panel includes a matrix of pixels and defines an aperture surrounded by pixels of the matrix of pixels but that does not include pixels of the matrix of pixels. A length of the aperture parallel to an axis connecting the first end and the second end is greater than a length of the aperture perpendicular to the axis. The sensor is configured to capture light that passes through the aperture. The processing circuitry, disposed proximal to the second end, is configured to output control signals to pixels of the matrix of pixels.

The display panel includes a rounded comer region located between the first end and the first side and a plurality of pixel circuits. The plurality of pixel circuits includes a first set of pixel circuits ending in the rounded comer region and a second set of pixel circuits ending in a straight region adjacent to the rounded corner region, the straight region located on the first side of the display panel. A voltage supply bus is configured to carry an electrical signal along the rounded comer region and the straight region. A supplementary voltage supply bus, electrically connected to the voltage supply bus, is configured to carry the electrical signal to the plurality of the first set of pixel circuits in the rounded corner region.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for driving a display with an array of light-emitting pixels. The pixels are arranged in a plurality of rows. The array includes two or more independently drivable areas. Each area includes two or more adjacent rows. The method includes, during an image frame, while operating in a first mode of operation, activating a first shift register circuit addressing only rows of pixels in a first area of the independently drivable areas. Activating the first register circuit illuminates one or more pixels in the first area. The method also includes, during the image frame, while operating in the first mode of operation, deactivating a second shift register circuit addressing only rows of pixels in a second area of the independently drivable areas. Deactivating the second register circuit maintains every pixel in the second area unilluminated during the image frame.

    Abstract: A display device includes subpixels of a first, second, and third colors, scan lines, and column lines.     Abstract: Rendering images on an active area of an OLED includes rendering images on the active area of the display panel with a plurality of different frame rates. For a plurality of the different frame rates having a frame rate that matches or is above a threshold frame rate, an image refresh operation is performed once per frame period and a self-refresh operation is not performed during the frame period. When rendering images on the active area, for at least one of the different frame rates having a frame rate that is lower than the threshold frame rate, an image refresh operation is performed once per frame period and a self-refresh operation is performed at least once during the frame period.

    Abstract: Techniques to provide uniform luminance across a computing device display, such as an active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) display. In some examples, a computing device display may include a hole within the active area of the display that may be used for a camera, a button or some other function. The hole may result in a non-uniform voltage drop in a power supply mesh in regions of the active area near the hole. The power supply mesh may provide electrical energy to elements of the display. The techniques of this disclosure include portions of the power supply mesh that are not connected to the voltage supply bus to ensure a uniform voltage drop across the active area of the display.

    Abstract: A display includes subpixel emissive areas of first, second, and third colors arranged in an array that includes rows and columns. The display also includes scan lines, column lines, and electronic subpixel circuits arranged in the array, with each subpixel circuit in a column of the array being electrically connected to a same column line and each electronic subpixel circuit configured for receiving electronic signals from a scan line and from a column line and for converting the received signals into a current signal provided to one of the subpixel emissive areas to drive light emission from the subpixel emissive area. The display further includes multiplexer (MUX) switches, where every other column line of the columns lines is configured to be connected to at least two outputs from a column line driver through the MUX switches.
