Abstract: A batten bar (308) is configured to secure first and second adjacent flat panels (200) to a structural framework (198). The batten bar (308) includes first and second inside legs (618), first and second outside legs (620), and a plurality of apertures (624) disposed along the length of the batten bar (308). The first and second inside legs (618) define a central channel (616). The first outside leg (620) and the first inside leg (618) define a first seal recess (600) configured to receive and retain a first seal (310). The second outside leg (620) and the second inside leg (618) define a second seal recess (600) configured to receive and retain a second seal (310). In an installed configuration, the first inside leg (618) and the first outside leg (620) are configured to contact the first flat panel (200) along a first common plane, and the second inside leg (618) and second outside leg (620) contact the second panel (200) along a second common plane.
