Abstract: A battery system (12) includes at least a first battery module and a second battery module, and a service disconnect unit electrically coupling the first battery module (14) to the second battery module (14). The service disconnect unit (16) comprises a bus bar (52) that includes a first portion (54) electrically connected to the first battery module (14), and a second portion (56) electrically connected to the second battery module (14). The service disconnect unit (16) also comprises a removable conductive member (50) configured to electrically connect the first portion (54) of the bus bar (52) to the second portion (56) of the bus bar (52).
