    Abstract: The present invention relates to a fabric softener active composition comprising: a component (a), said component being at least one or a mixture of quaternary mono-, di- or tri-ester ammonium compounds; a component (b), said component being a fatty acid ester or a mixture of fatty acid esters, wherein the fatty acid ester is derived from a C3-C-10 fatty alcohol or a mixture of C3-C-10 fatty alcohols and wherein the component (b) content is in the range from 5 to 50% wt. based on the total weight of the fabric softener active composition; a component (c), said component being a fatty acid or a mixture of fatty acids, wherein the component (c) content is higher than 0 and up to 15% wt. based on the total weight of the fabric softening active composition. Further disclosed are a method to obtain the fabric softener active composition; a fabric softener composition comprising the fabric softener active composition; a method to obtain the fabric softener composition, and a use of the fabric softener composition to soften and condition fabrics.
